Liberty and Justice for All

So I've been thinking a lot about this lately. Mainly that I've concluded that this statement is surprisingly ambiguous. Despite what opposing camps tend to say about it, I'm certain that both liberals and conservatives whole-heartedly agree that the US should provide Liberty and Justice for All, but that liberals focus on the "for all" and ( Read more... )

Thanks for writing these very astute, and to me, comforting, observations. I am a bit more cynical, unfortunately - I feel a bit like the Constitution has become purely symbolic to some people in Congress, and they only use the parts that are convenient to their own, self-indulgent causes.

But I too believe people can become better, because society overall does move forward. Perhaps at a snail's pace, but forward momentum is there.

I think. Anyway, you do make me feel better about the state of things. So thanks. :-)
