A question for my fellow LOST fans (Carey). I'm looking around on lostpedia and watching the end of season 2. I just found this tidbit on Desmond's page
( Read more... )
Huh... I hadn't even considered the lack of connection between Desmond and Ben. Ben seems to know everything... he probably knows Desmond's connection to an extent, through Eloise if no one else. I really think that Desmond is one of the major keys to the island. Ben will hurt Penny for his own reasons, but also to get Desmond back to the island. Remember the episode when Desmond's hatch partner is found out to be a fraud? Wasn't he an Other? I need to go back and re-watch.
I just remembered that Ben has to kill Penny and I don't know when Ben figures out the connection, but he obviously knows.
The guy who was in the hatch when Desmond washed up was actually part of Dharma. He may have been one of the last members of the Dharma initiative, since he had to arrive in 91-92 and the Purge was in 92. And the theory is that the Others may not have even known about the hatch. It's all explained on lostpedia.
I think I was just confusing myself re-watching season 2 and knowing what happens in season 5. Blargh.
The first three seasons trip me up because I didn't watch them as they ran. I watched season 1 on dvd over a summer. Then I watched most of season 2 on dvd, and then alternated between the second half of season 3 as it ran and the second half of season 2 on dvd. Then, I went back to watch the first half of season 3. The first episode I ever saw was the one where Michael shot Anna Lucia and Libby and it fucked me up big time.
