In Which Ben Throws Out his Back, and then Goes to the Gym

So last Sunday I sneezed. This was not just any sneeze, but one that immobilized my lower back. I spent all of Sunday on Sara and Dave's floor in horrible pain. I find this ironic as I am the healthiest and most athletic out of the 7 people currently residing in my house. Either way, Sitting has been incredibly painful, and causes me to walk around ( Read more... )

backs are crazy things. because of the accident, for the last few days I could stand and lay down...even partially recline, but sitting for any length of time, either at my desk, or driving, or whatever, was incredibly painful. Things seem to be better today. I'd recommend seeing a chiropractor if you can...I just had my second appt today, and we're finding a lot of things that have been causing me problems...things that I pretty much got used to, but could get much worse if not treated properly.

hopefully the rest will help, and you'll be feeling better soon:)

I really should. I used to go to one when I was in highschool, but they're not around any more. How did you find yours?

Sorry to hear about the accident. Is the car in bad shape? You don't seem to have good luck with cars.

my car is alright...it was pretty messed up to begin with...the rear bumper is all sorts of smashed up, but i'm going to be getting rid of this car as soon as my dad gets the title from the van to give to me.

my dad's gf referred this chiropractor to me...she's really cool, office is over on the Boulevard. I don't know if you'd want to come all the way to Kingston for an appointment, but if you're interested I can refer you to the office. I usually find my drs through other people, that way I have some idea of what to expect.

Usually, you can use this site www.ratemds.com
I tried to look up chiroprators in po-town, but the site only listed two, and they hadn't been rated.

If all else fails, try this:http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=obS&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=

I really should look into this, as apparently my health plan does cover this to some extent. There is another website called Angie's List that I think does a similar thing, but is more advertised. I'll see what they have to offer.

What kind of van is it? Glad to hear everything is working out ok for you after all. Are you feeling any better now that a few days have gone by?

I second the chiropractor. As a couple of side thoughts, how's your posture? How do you sit - with both feet on the floor? How ergonomic (sp?) is your computer environment? Are your exercises working on lower back and its strength?

Definitely do the chiro if you can - they are a good start to getting you aligned properly.
