Wine Revelry weekend. It was, honestly, a really good weekend. We got the spear-to-the-chest death for Roderick at Final Joust on Saturday. In sword fighting lessons on Saturday we ran from the wood chips up to the Royal Pavilions (in my tight laced bodice) with our wooden swords held high. It was me, Skippy and a line of children and Brother Simon. Skippy wanted to ask the King for a larger allowance.
He ended up agreeing to give the King all of his allowance and future allowances towards a vacation for the King and Queen to go on. This was because everyone drew their real swords at us. The King, Queen and the guards and the mayor and the Sherriff. XD It was hilarious.
Talked with Bryan after canon, Dave had informed him about what some of the squires were doing. Basically, Jimmy and D have a habit of being rude to their crowd. Mitri’s squire tries to take over Hannah’s job (and takes it upon herself to be bossy and yell at myself and Giggles about our crowds… I’ve learned to ignore it). Kathryn, on the other hand, has been a delight and great help over on my side. But I talked to him about that and he promised to talk to the squires.
Sunday, my poor secondary evil cheerleader was ill. So I got a stand in cheerleader, one of the girls that used to cheer when we didn’t have enough cheerleaders. People are much friendlier when you don’t have to send them over to the ticket booth for their free tickets for the children. And when you tell them it’s wine tasting weekend.
Jousts were strange on Sunday. The first joust crowd was AMAZING. They didn’t need any prompting at all. This never happens. Second joust crowd? Yeah, they didn’t cheer at all. It was painful. Third joust crowd was amazing. But I’ll get to that in a minute.
After first joust, on our way back to Front gate, we saw Skippy flirting with some of the singers. We crept up and would pause and pretend to be scenery and the Cheesecake on a stick guy helped us. When Skippy left the girls, I handed Giggles the rope and sent her after him. We wrapped the rope around him and proclaimed that he was captured. XD We caught him totally off guard. He had no clue what was going on.
We ran down to the gate with him in tow where High Lord Sherriff was. He suggested we tie the Prince to the tree and he would go get the King. So we did so, and the Sherriff read a proclamation that we were to be rewarded and such. Skippy was trying to think of ways to get the girls to let him go, but they had to go rip tickets and disappeared and he looked at me and frowned. I told him that I was much harder to persuade than they were, he said he knew, that’s why he was upset. XD
Our Front Gate mistress untied him from the tree and to a ticket booth and we made him tear tickets for a few minutes. (This is only hilarious because before he was given the role of Prince, he worked with us on Front Gate.) The King and Queen and their procession were returning, so we had to re-tie him to the tree… But as I was doing so the guards held their swords at me and made me drop the rope. The girls and I all curtsied to the King and Queen and the Princess was given the rope that Skippy was on. We were given the highest reward possible, a kiss on the hand by the King. Meanwhile, Elizabeth was playing yo-yo with Skippy.
It was so fun, and to think, it was just a whim I had when I saw him on his own. XD
Third Joust was wonderful, Betty let Lily help me cheerlead, so I had the extra help with my side… Which was really awesome. I only sort of get along with Lily, but this definitely helped me like her a little more. She was really eager, a quick learner, and may be convincing Betty into letting her help a little more often.
They did this thing where they faked us out, and I fell for it even though I had seen that they gave a little girl William’s favor, which they don’t do if the knight is going to die. So anyways, the usual cheat to win applies. They knocked out Mitri and I wasn’t sure if he was dead or not. Then they cross-bowed William in the shoulder and went on their villain monologue of how no one would stand with William and that he dies alone. Mitri and Thomas are suddenly on their feet and cry that he will not and there are suddenly six knights fighting on the field.
All the evil knights died in very dramatic fashions. It was lovely.
On the way back to gate, we allowed the Princess to tie us up in my rope and trail us along as her pets. Once Skippy caught up, he hooked his arm with mine and asked if he could share us with her.
But once we got to the Belly dancers, we were released because the King was absconded by the dancers and they had their bit. I hung out around Front Gate for a while, talking with Bryan and little kids. A guy dressed as Rufio from Hook was leaving, and Bryan was so amused because apparently he was just watching that movie between Jousts.
Anyways, so Roderick’s little brother Jimmy (Cedric) comes up and talks to Bryan and I for a while and Bryan, being the social butterfly he is, got stuck in another conversation. So Jimmy just stood there and talked with me, offered me mountain dew from his mug and told me that if he ever got out of hand before the jousts when he’s heckling me to just let him know and he’ll back off. Honestly? I have a hard time believing Jimmy and Billy are related at all. Jimmy has been nothing but a sweetheart to me.
Ummmm, fast forward to Chili’s. While waiting for Emily, the seat next to me in the booth was completely open. So, for a good 30 minutes or so (if my time telling isn’t completely terrible), Skippy sat next to me, with his arm wrapped around my shoulders and his head on my shoulder, my hand on his. Just cuddling. And gods, I loved the attention and it wasn’t until he wandered off that I was beating myself up over it.
He loved the bit we did with tying him to the tree, he was going on about that for a long time. And when he was leaving, he gave me a really long hug and rubbed my back and told me how much he looks forward to sword fighting lessons when I’m there.
And nnngh. Why do I let this happen to me?
Also, this post comes equipped with pictures~
