The Darkness

I woke up this morning at 5:00 to try and get in a 9-mile run before I left for the debate tourney. After eating, nursing my blisters, and dressing I was ready to roll. I step outside and think to myself, "Myself, it's kind of dark out here. Oh well, my eyes probably just haven't adjusted." So I take off. About ten minutes later, "Hmmm, I can't ( Read more... )

Yeah, sorry bud, if the music hadn't had that hook or even the words Beverly Hills, I'm about 99% sure it wouldn't be popular. They like that simplistic almost rap-like hook, and any song mentioning Beverly Hills or "rolling like a celebrity" is supposed to be liked by all. I know for a fact by just simple reading and understand the lyrics are more than just what the chorus says, but I don't think people care, or maybe they're Linkin Park fans and they understand that and that makes them like it even more... **shudder**

I still agree that the rest of Make Believe is really great. How many non-Weezer followers do you think have actually listened beyond track 1 and enjoyed it? I'm willing to bet the number is this:

At first listen of it when I first got the album, I almost stoppped listening to it after 1 minute of the song, it was atrocious, I'm not kidding, it was in AIM and everyone heard me whine and rant about it for 15 minutes about how Weezer has gone downhill (seriously, Parmater can probably vouch), but I think a week or so after it sunk its addicting hook in my head and it was stuck, so I HAD to listen to it and the rest of the album, which I had a terrible opinion of at the time solely for Beverly Hills, but I learned to really appreciate that the rest of the album was actually very good (in my opinion). Beverly Hills has a definite hook, it's annoying but... gah, it's like a chant or something, I hear it and it's calling out to me to enjoy it, I hate that... Sigh. oh well.
