So I was supposed to do this on Facebook, but I'm doing it here instead because Facebook is for stalkers. You guys aren't stalkers, right? Right. At the behest of a friend and because of extreme boredom, I felt compelled to do this.

1. I love thunderstorms. The kind that attack slowly, with lightning strikes visible from miles off and thunder that trembles forward with the storm until it's so strong and vicious it makes the windows rattle. I like when they leave a gentle rain in their wake, too.

2. I'll read a book even if I know it doesn't have a happy ending, and then be terribly disappointed that it didn't turn out better for the characters. (Unrealistic happy endings make me just as frustrated, though.)

3. My favorite color is copper.

4. I like to write, but it never comes very easily and I always get bored with it because I know what's going to happen. I much prefer editing for other people, dissecting stories and characters, sifting out the flaws and being awed by clever turns of phrase or particularly good characterization.

5. I like all kinds of music, but get really annoyed when the only thing playing in clubs is techno. (Japan, I'm looking at you.)

6. I always assume a general indifference on the part of most people towards me, so if someone says they're fond of me, I'm usually surprised. It makes me like that person a lot more (because I'm apparently easy like that). Compliments about unexpected things have the same effect.

7. I consider family the most important thing.

8. I'd say my favorite kinds of movies are action movies, but I also really enjoy watching children's movies. I hate it when movies from my childhood aren't as entertaining to me now as they were when I was a kiddo.

9. I was once attacked by a monkey.

10. Sometimes it takes me awhile to really like a gift from someone. Once I do, I feel ashamed about not being as excited about it as I could have been, and try to make sure the person who gave it to me knows I appreciate it.

11. I was once told that I'm the most unromantic person ever.

12. My favorite time of the year is late summer/early fall because it's still warm with the occasional cool breeze, and you can eat either the last of the bright, fresh summer fruits and veggies or the first of the hearty fall produce.

13. I adore dogs. I love that they're always happy to see their people, occasionally disgusting, goofy, and totally willing to be a good friend, playmate, kid, or caretaker. I think they're the most spectacular animals ever. Even counting the platypus.

14. I sometimes fear that I'm becoming an old woman before my time.

15. I don't like talking about why I'm vegetarian.

16. I always think I'm a lot bigger than I actually am, even though I have to buy most of my clothes in relatively small sizes. I borrowed a jacket from a guy friend once, and was astonished when it was huge on me. I usually don't let friends give me piggy-backs, either, because I'm afraid I'll hurt them. I'm totally willing to give piggy-back rides to other people, though.

17. I routinely fantasize about what my house will be like when I'm a "real person," and have huge plans for a garden, even though I know that realistically it'll probably never happen. (I'll likely never have enough money to do half the things I'd like to, and I'm a terrible gardener.)

18. One of my happiest memories of college is of running to campus in the rain with Laura and laughing and splashing in all the puddles along the way.

19. The smell of freshly-baked goods is one of my favorite smells ever. It makes me think of home, family, and love.

20. Being cold makes me irritable.

21. I want to be a stay-at-home mom once I have kids. After they've grown up a bit, I'd like to enter the work force again, but until then I want to be there for them like my mom has always been there for us. I can think of nothing that would make me happier or prouder than to have the love of my future children and to be able to raise them right.

22. I had never seen mountains before I came to Japan; I think they're gorgeous. The natural beauty here is astounding. My first train ride through Japan was from Fukuoka (Northwestern Kyushu) to Oita (Northeastern Kyushu), and even jet-lagged, stressed out, and feeling like all I wanted to do was engage in some bear-like hibernating, I was amazed at how gorgeous Japan is. Thanks to my current lovely prefecture, I've now also seen my first volcano.

23. The first impression people have of me is usually pretty poor. Most of the good friends I have now had a terrible first impression of me. This probably bodes ill for me with regard to future job interviews.

24. I'm terrible at romantic relationships.

25. I think being fresh out of the shower and curled under a soft blanket is one of the best feelings ever.
