A Beginners Guide to Spyware

I highly recommend its recommendations of using the free programs ZoneAlarm for a firewall (I actually have ZoneAlarmPro) & SpyBot Search & Destroy to help rid your system of spyware ... I haven't tried AdAware, but I probably will!

Began with AdAware. Primarily, after the spyware finally killed my IE completely - Leaving me without access to even system folders. =x

I've already got the 'rents, the boss and some neighbours using it now, as well. Heh.

ZoneAlarm, however.. I'll definitely have to look into. More so, with your seal of approval.

Hell ... I PAID for the Pro version of ZoneAlarm, I like it that much! hehe

& Best Buy JUST started carrying V 4 (which means that I think that the copy that I have is now old ... its on my research list for tonight).

However -- if you don't want the paid version, its still highly recommended.

I've been having tech geeks recommend it to me for YEARS!! I didn't install it when I should have, or I would have saved myself a few viral infections -- especially when the router died & we had the desktop going straight into the Cable Modem & live online wide open. (I TOLD him to kill the UPS when he wasn't actually online ...)

ZoneAlarm is easy to install ... & at least the Pro version has a wide range of customization. At my parents, I just have it set to "learn" & not prompt them for passwords to allow access, but on mine, I want to know every time -- altho I'll prolly eventually ease up on it. *grin*
