Of course I read Pitchfork too. But I'm getting sick of it, almost ready to throw in the towel. I'm sick of being told I don't like Veckatimest enough... everyone talks about it with awe, like it's some kind of mind-blowing rock epic fully loaded with climaxes and explosions and ooh's and aah's... but I feel close to nothing when I listen to it. Is everyone going to continue ignoring how wimpy it is? It's like a bunch of choir boys or glee kids got into Indie Rock; there's that much vocal nonsense on Veckatimest, and Grizzly Bear rocks about as hard as a slightly rebellious church group, too. I can get down with wimpiness, sure, but not this. Everyone is on their knees for this variant on what's basically Indie Pop, but it bores me, because it's going for a dreaminess that was so much better created by shoegaze. I'm ready for the next trend.
