Illyria felt empty. It was like losing part of herself all over again.  It felt like last time. When they took her power at Wolfram and Hart. But this time it was different. It weighed heavier on her mind.

Last time, she had cared little for these bleating humans. They were tools, fools, nothing more than motes of dust in her vision.  Last time, she hadn't cared for them.

Not like now.

As much as she wanted to pretend that she was aloof, cut off, superior- she couldn't fool herself.  She had a bond with them. Wes, Gunn, Spike, they understood her, maybe even cared for her a bit. She had a place with these people.  They protected her as much as she protected them.  And when she lost control of her power at the Deeper Well, Tara and Willow had been injured.  Minor injuries, but still. She'd still hurt them with her power.

And she felt guilt.

It was an emotion that she was still struggling with. She was still trying to understand. She found that wandering helped her think. It helped her make some sense of the emotions floating around in her head. For the last few days she had fallen back to her old habits of wandering the halls and grounds of the manor, observing, sitting, thinking.  She was starting to feel a little less confused, or at least was starting to grow tired of thinking when she heard voices in Wesley's office. Perhaps he could help shed some light on her problems, or at least he'd sit and listen as she verbalized her confusion.  He used to enjoy listening to her and observing her,

So, without so much as a knock announcing her presence, she stepped inside, hovering at the door as the men spoke.
