Illyria loitered in the foyer, staring at herself in the mirror. She tilted her head back and forth, eye-balling her choice of attire. She tugged at the hem of the plain white t-shirt, and glanced down at the slightly care worn jeans she wore, casually keeping an eye on the slayers lounging in the living room. After a moment of spying, she figured that, save for the odd blue hair color, and her eyes, she could pass for human. It was odd. At one point in time, she wouldn't have even considered putting in the effort to blend with the humans. She would have stalked through the mall in leather, expecting fear and awe from the sheep-like humans.

Things were different now.

She had a family, and a youngling to keep safe now. She had goals and a place to belong, even if she knew she still made nearly everyone nervous. She was part of this human run world. It was an odd thing to ponder, but it felt like it fit. Perhaps Wesley was correct in assuming that she could learn to "feel" like humans did. Such thoughts floated in her mind often anymore. But they were not terribly unpleasant, so she left the introspection continue.

It wasn't until she heard footsteps on the stairs behind her that she let the strange thoughts disappear.  She turned and for the tenth time in the span of a moment, her hand fell to the back pocket of her jeans, and the wad of cash housed there. She'd been collecting pocket change and  the odd paper money over the last few weeks. The laundry room was a treasure trove for the paper money. The Slayers often left it in their pockets.   And Spike often had cash.  She figured she had collected enough for a decent gift for Max.

As Gunn stepped into the foyer, she faced him and nodded.  "Are we to take the public transport creation, or your large truck?"
