I think a lot of kids "romanticize" professions, then find out it's not all it's cracked up to be. I wanted to be a nurse because my aunt was one. Then when it was time to really decide, I settled on medical technologist, because it was still in the medical field, and no messy patients to deal with. :p
So, no I didn't end up doing what I wanted to do as a kid. Interesting question, T.
Oh, and I also forgot to mention that I wanted to be several of those things growing up, too:
Teacher/professor, secretary, doctor/nurse, archeologist, museum curator, and architect.
I actually did career shadowing days in high school for the teaching and the architecture. And I ended up being a teacher for a while. It's not always what it's cracked up to be. You're right about romanticizing professions. Heh.
I think I would have really enjoyed architecture, but my drawing/art skills just aren't good enough at all.

But yes, I think you're right about romanticizing professions. And reading your comment reminded me! I also wanted to be a doctor! Off to edit!

I think I might do this myself when I get a chance. Now I just have to make myself remember to do it. Heh.
