Rules of Random Things: After you read this note, you should compile your own list of 25 (or however many you want to do) random things and tag at least 25 more people so we can all learn a little bit more about each other. It's fun!
{my note: am not tagging anyone; do if you'd like}
1. One of my favorite things to do on a Saturday or a Sunday morning is to eat breakfast, and then clean the kitchen while the Food Network is on. It doesn't much matter whose show is on. I can stand pretty much anybody. Except that Simply Delicioso chick. I will switch channels so fast if I see that show. She irritates me so.
2. I love music, but am not doing anything professional with it. I am a professional listener.
3. I am a jill-of-many-trades, and mistress of none. Not really negative, I don't think. I like to think that I know a little bit about a lot of things, but not really enough to be an expert at any one thing. If I need an expert, I'll go to one when I need one.
4. I love my job. Pretty much anyone who knows me knows this about me. I didn't always. I've grown into my position. Sure it drives me crazy on some days (this past week or so has been challenging), but I can still go home at night and say with some conviction that I truly love it.
5. I'm friendly, but I don't make friends easily. Not close friends anyway. And I only have a handful of friends, but the ones that I have, I really treasure.
6. I am your textbook Cancerian. For the most part, read any write-up about a Cancer and you can bet that it applies to me. I am loyal, sensitive, nurturing; I love my family, my friends, my home. I am also a tough cookie; in other words, don't fuck with me.
7. This is harder than I thought it would be. Who the hell knew 25 random things to write about would be so difficult??
8. As I help my mom put away the rest of the Christmas stuff (yes, I am aware that it is 1/17 today), I thought of another random thing (can you tell I’m doing this piecemeal and that I keep saving? yes, I know you can’t): my family collects nativity sets. My dad started it cause he thought it would be fun to collect them cause of our name; when he died, we just continued the tradition. I have to say, I love our nativity sets. I wanted to buy a few when my mom and I were in Rome (ok, technically Vatican City) but wayyyy too much $$$$$. Besides, they were all heavy. Yeah, that’s it. And no, I am not sour grapesing. Am not.
9. I love to travel. But I fear I am a travel snob. I’d like to be able to be adventurous like the travelers on Globe Trekker, but the truth is I’d prefer not to get dirty or have bugs on me or have kids crowding around me begging me for money. Buuuut I have done all of the above.
10. This should probably be 9A, but I am semi-cheating because I need 25 things! One of my favorite areas to travel in is the Middle East. No lie. I loved it. I loved being in Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt. I could full on cheat and list each place as a random thing, but I won’t. Wanna know about them, just ask me.
11. I am creative, but I don’t tap into that creativity enough. Not sure why; still figuring that out. But in a pinch, I can come up with a pretty cool design for a card. Woohoo procrastination!
12. I love food and I can pretty much eat anything. Textures don’t bother me; weird looking food doesn’t bother me. What I hate is smells. Two of the things that I cannot stand (and will not eat) are tripe and breakfast sausage. There is something about the smell of both that I cannot stomach.
13. I am so very not a girly girl. I don’t like makeup, or getting my hair done, or perfume. I do like to make myself look presentable though. And the most scent I will put on is baby cologne.
14. Dang, I have to come up with 11 more? Oh wait, only 10 more after this, right? Woohoo!
15. There is an OBSCENE amount of shoes for the number of people living in this house.
16. I lived in China for two years when I was a teenager. When we moved, it was before the start of high school and all I could think about was that I was leaving my friends and the life I knew behind. I wish I’d appreciated it more.
17. I love languages. I especially am fascinated by non-Roman alphabets.
18. Hi, my name is Teresa, and I am…a packrat.
19. When it comes to religion, I say that I am agnostic, or that I grew up Catholic. I hate organized religion. I used to have arguments with a former boss about his fundamentalist Christian beliefs. He would scold me (like I was a 10 year old) whenever I came into the office with a haircut because the Bible says “a woman’s hair is her glory”. Bite me, Fundy.
20. This is the longest that I’ve ever had my hair. Ever.
21. I have a hybrid vehicle, I recycle, I conserve energy when I can, but I wish I could do more to save the planet for future generations.
22. I was deathly afraid of dogs until I was well past college. When I lived with Mike and Frank, they had two of them, and I got used to pets around the house.
23. I have never been drunk.
24. I love movies or TV shows about scary stuff/occulty things. It totally creeps me out, but I like watching things like that. My mom says my grandmother was totally the same way.
25. Purple monkey dishwasher (and if you know where that’s from, I will give you a cookie)
