Am including Maine in this one cause hellloooo, vacation last week! Again, skip at will, of course.
Drove up last Saturday the 20th. Took about 9.5 hours cause of stopping for pee breaks, gas refill, farmers markets, you know how it goes. Got to Brooks and ate an early dinner at Ralph’s Café, the restaurant co-owned by Mike and Frank, then Into The Woods! Y’know, when I walked into the theatre, I took a deep breath and said “damn, I miss the smell of the theatre”. And that was only a week ago, and I cannot remember what it was exactly that I was smelling: Wood? Paint? No clue. It was a pretty good show; Sondheim is quite enjoyable to watch. Love it!
Did various other things like shop, walk around a historic town, ate local fare (mmm blueberries, mmm Ralph’s Café pancakes, mmm seafood), but the most memorable, most enjoyable thing for me was Grafton Notch State Park where we hiked a moderately advanced trail, which we did not know when we set out until we were well into it. It gave me quite a workout, but I did it. I got to the top and what a view! At the moment, am a bit lazy and have not uploaded it to anything but Facebook yet. And knowing that there are only probably two people reading this (if I’m lucky-hi Joyce!), please do let me know if you are interested in said view. I won’t bother to upload unless I know that someone wants to see it. It is pretty spectacular!
Said goodbye to Mike and Frank (sniff-I miss them already), then bought live lobsters from Kirby’s Lobster Shack before heading on the long drive home. Cooked the lobsters that night (thanks mom!) then tried to sleep, but was a bit too wired. Finally fell asleep and it felt nice to just wake up at whatever time felt right.
The rest of that week was spent in just relaxing: having the lobsters with my family, seeing a movie with friends, seeing other friends I hadn’t seen in a while, babysitting Grandma.
The weekend was just stretching that vacation to as long as I possibly can before the inevitable return to work. Saturday, went shopping with Christine (that was super fun!). Sunday, hung out with John and watched Michael Jackson videos on MTV2, followed by a rewatch of Supernatural from the beginning. Muhahahaha, another convert!
And today was back to work. I must say, I love that my team seemed to gel and things went ok in my absence. It’s also very nice to come back to work and be complimented by the boss. I like that. :)
EDITED TO ADD PICTURES. OK OK, the link to the pics. I don't remember how to add a pic to the post and would rather add the link than to take the hours looking it up on FAQ. Here ya go:
