So uh, the first drabbletree drabble in a loooooooongass time (and something that is almost certainly going to be expanded inside of something else eventually, because i am a lazy cheater)

They look scattered, Eli thinks. Clumped in groups, looking like they'll fall to pieces. But Kate and Tommy have their heads together over a map; after a minute they call Teddy over from patching up Billy's arm, and then it's three heads.
Nate's still dazed. A starburst of blood dirties his hairline, but Cassie's under his shoulder, propping him up. She grins wearily at Eli.
And Eli sees what he couldn't before. He'd thought they'd been broken, but that's not it. They aren't regrouping, they're grouping for the first time. And he will lead.
