Taobao review, Late Spring - Fall 2012 Do not click Title, Click Cuts please!

This is a review for my most recent Taobao order. I hope you enjoy my review and I will be able to answer any comments/questions within 24 hours of posting.
Shopping Service:
I used Taobaobuying.com as an SS. I have used them twice in the past with zero issues.
Previously you simply add links to an empty text field on the site and then you receive an email with a populated excel sheet. This time, that part of their site is no longer working, so you had to email them the links and sizes/qty/etc. I didn't have a problem with this so I sent my first email and received a follow-up from an agent I'd never dealt with: April (in the past it was Popeye). She was nice and kept me updated, at first, though she does not speak English as well as Popeye.
Problems: The problems began when I was asked if my order could be split into two shipments. I had no problem with this, so I agreed. At this point, April had been keeping me updated and answering questions within 48 hours. The communication declined after I agreed to two boxes. I asked several times which items would be in the first box, and I was ignored.
My first shipment arrived, and I was very disappointed to find that I was missing all the shoes and purses I had ordered. Maybe this is customary when splitting shipments, but when I specifically asked about the contents of the package, I was ignored. I sent a complaint about this lack of communication, and was once again ignored. At this point, April was not answering my questions or providing updates when I asked for weeks at a time (I am taking into account the Chinese holiday at the beginning of October, I did not expect any emails at that time). I asked for confirmation on what items would be in the second package, and was ignored. I asked for updates on items I had added on later to the order and was ignored. I would get an email every couple of weeks with no information simply 'Please wait'.
I was a little relieved when I finally received an email saying my second package was being packed. This was when I was informed that their Paypal was 'having problems' and I would have to pay by Western Union. I told them I would wait for Paypal to be restored, and I would not pay by Western Union. Another week went by with no update to the Paypal situation. Two more emails from me and I finally received a new Paypal address. This one did not work. I had to wait another week before they responded with a third Paypal address, which did work. I finally received my second box in November.

The boxes were secure, but on my second shipment they had stuffed some clothing items into the shoe boxes, which is not Ok with me (the clothing was NOT in plastic bags, just stuffed into the shoe boxes); sometimes shoes can rub/bleed colors, so I wasn't too happy with that method.
Communication: 1/5
April dropped communications after I agreed to shipping in two boxes. Her responses were either vague (Please wait) or she just ignored my questions. The first part of my order was fine however. They also appeared to have problems contacting sellers. Fox Cherry would not take my order (they had closed for orders for the month of August) but I kept asking April to contact them in the subsequent months (during the no communication time) and I finally went with a private SS and they had no problems ordering from Fox Cherry.
Overall: 2/5
I will not be ordering with this SS ever again due communication and payment problems. I will never recommend them to another user again either.
I have made notes on each JSK to denote which petticoat is used with each dress.

Nothing amiss. All the scalloped edges which are finished with a satin/buttonhole stitch are done nicely.
Poof/Volume: Medium
I'm not going to grade this because it's just an embroidered petticoat with a layer of organza. I think the other three layers are a chiffon? Not positive on that except that they are really soft and light. I have marked which dresses I used this petticoat underneath in the review. It is a Medium poof in my opinion and I will need to layer it for my preferences as I like much more volume than what this gives. The embroidery is pretty, but kind of moot since I don't think anyone is going to ask me if my petticoat has embroidery.

My first petticoat I ordered from CP was terrible. It had holes when it arrived and continued to open up new holes whenever I would attempt to wear it. The material was wrinkly and scratchy and I was really disappointed with it. This petticoat however is great! No holes, no weird crumpled fabric.
Poof: Large
This is the kind of volume I like. It's probably too big to fit under some of my dresses even! I know it will deflate a bit after wearing it for a few hours, so I am really happy with the size of this petticoat. I only had one dress that was suitable to use with this and I think it might be too big for that dress, haha.
HMHM-

The JSK straps are much too long, and the arm scythes were not properly fit, so they gape. The waist is not properly fitted to the measurements I gave.

The bodice is not lined, and the edges do not match up along the side seam as shown in the bottom picture. Very ugly on the inside.
Materials: 4/5
This a Cotton/Linen blend due to it being an Autumn/Winter JSK. This makes the material difficult to care for as far as wrinkles go (Not sure how many other people have 100% linen items, but geez, wrinkle town) but it is warm! The accent netting is really soft and the print has an antique/rustic feel because it has texture due to the fabric. True to colors on stock.

Some loose threads, and the lining is not attached to the waist, which I thought was strange since you *usually* only see that with a dress with no waist seam. Other than that just minor loose threads that needed to be trimmed. Also it is a simple rolled hem, when a blind hem would have been much prettier.

This is a spring time dress and the outer material is a very very lightweight cotton which is great for the weather here. The bodice is a really lovely jacquard fabric (which I attempted to photograph). The fabric of the dress itself is textured with tiny decorative stitching and piping. True to color on listing.

The waist ribbon is set lower than the middle of the waist panel, so it is just a little weird fitting in the waist when the ribbon is tied. But that is the way the stock picture shows it as well.

The same as with the above JSK. The corset lacing in the back was threaded upside down which was a little funny, some of the trim on the bottom is a tiny bit fraying. Also, the lining is not connected at the waist seam. Also it is a simple rolled hem, when a blind hem would have been much prettier.

It's another lightweight cotton, but it is a bit stiff/scratchy. Not as 'yellow' as listing image, in my opinion.

I have ordered custom from Dear Celine's store since my first taobao order years ago, and they have never sent me something that does not fit well. This was my first fully princess seamed/a-line jsk from them though, but sure enough, everything fits wonderfully.

Couple of loose threads and I'm not a fan of the lining being attached to the bottom hem of the dress because it's very easy to catch it on things. The lace on the bodice also ends RIGHT at the zipper, so you have to be careful zipping up.

Really lightweight silk linen blend for the top layer and a very soft lining. The colors are really beautiful and not too bright. The colors I noticed are much more true to the pictures further down on the listing, instead of the stock photo, it looks much more purple/turquoise accented IRL instead of the pink overtones in the listing picture.

Since this was just a used listing of an out of stock dress I wanted, I couldn't pick size. L fits decent in the bust and needs to be laced to fit the waist. But it is a decent fit for me for ready to wear.

Medium-weight cotton, very sturdy. The lace is very simple. It is missing the velvet bow that is supposed to come on the collar however. But it is a used sale. The print is really beautiful and has soft edges in the details (which is intentional I believe).

It is ready-to-wear, so the fit isn't the best. The Surface Spell Large feels a lot bigger than other taobao brands' Large, but the bodice fits well. I always fit to my bust over my waist when I pick ready-to-wear sizes, since altering something smaller is much easier.
Construction: 3/5
The JSK straps are really wide. They appear to be wider than the stock pictures show. Also, in the last picture, you can see how the embroidery is slightly off-center from the middle of the waist seam, and the last button on the bodice is off center as well in the other direction.

Really nice, medium weight velveteen with no weird wrinkles or patches. The embroidery is nice and really silver and pretty. The lace on the bodice is really nice for an accent.

This is their size L (they do not do custom) for a better fit through the bodice for me. It feels as if the waist is smaller than other taobao brand's L, which is great because I don't need to alter it much.

No flaws that I could find. The hem is scalloped into the side seams, which is really a lovely look and done really well. The pintucks and details throughout the dress look great. It is fully lined.
Materials: 5/5
Lightweight and airy cotton. The print is really crisp and is comprised of fairy tale stores (Humpty Dumpty, Cow over the Moon, etc) and I love the green colorway. The lace/bows/ribbons are all nicely finished/sewn on. Green colorway is true to color in the stock image.

Return to the Fantasy Blouse - Custom Fit

For a custom fit blouse this fits really terribly. It isn't AS tight through the bust as the ready-to-wear sizes, but it is too tight for a custom fit and the waist is too big.

Nothing construction wise sticks out other than the poor fit. The pintucks and ruffles and collar are fine and lay well.

This is a weird Poly blend. It reminds me of my father's shirts... if that makes any sense, the kind of button ups they sell on base (that's the only place I know he shops). It is crinkly and scratchy. The lace is cotton (I think) along the collar, but it is deformed along one side and I'm not sure how well it will iron. Side note, I won't be wearing this without some kind of Jabot/bow as I don't like the angled ends of the collar, but this Is shown on the listing. And I think it's funny they pair this blouse with a Nordic Blue Lotta skirt on the dummy, heh.

I think Yolanda makes the smallest 'L' out of all the brands I ordered from. It fits well in the waist, but I have to wear a minimizer so I don't have gaps through the buttons.
Constructions: 3/5
Lots of things are really well made about this blouse. The detailing/lace applications are great. However, the collar isn't graded properly, so it does not lay well. The top of the button facing of the front is not lined correctly with the other facing, and so the top is uneven above the top button. I had to cut out a tag at the back because, since the collar isn't graded correctly inside, it was sticking straight up out of the shirt, and nothing could hide it. Also, the waist ties are really low, they do not pull at the natural waist, which is a little weird.

This is a chiffon blouse, but it's a heavier chiffon than some of the other light-weight chiffon blouses in my order, so it is not as sheer, which is nice. All the lace is really pretty and detailed. Really pretty pearly buttons with tiny bow details.

Dear Celine always has some loose threads/slightly off center ruffles/lace going into seams I've found. What really brings it down is the button holes are suuuuuper tight. They should have been cut bigger, they are a PAIN to button/unbutton.

Light weight cotton for summer. The buttons have little golden crowns (did not photograph well at all) which are the most detailed buttons on any of the blouses in this order. True to color in the stock images.

The collar is half an inch longer on one side and for some reason when I wear it, it is really annoying to see it being uneven. The lace matches fine, but as you can see, the bottom ruffle is longer on one side.

Super lightweight chiffon, very sheer, but very light weight and airy for summer. Dear Celine always has nice custom lace and buttons. I really wish I had bought this in black since it looks like it has a star pattern on the chiffon, side note.

No problems at all. Everything is really well sewn and finished, no complaints. I like the gather/detail on the sleeves a lot.

Really nice chiffon, not too light weight and sheer, but light weight enough to be cool during hotter days. I forgot to add in the neck bow (it is just a strip of fabric you have to tie) in the picture, sorry! True to color in stock image.

This chiffon is heavier weight and scratchier than the red blouse. The blouse is not as shiny as the top two pictures show. The third picture is much truer to the sheen of the fabric and the color.

One of the pearls fell off when I was inspecting the shirt, and the front buttons are a little loose. Other than that, no problems, all the lace detailing is done really neat and tidy and the embroidery is really well done and sturdy.

Ok so this is listed as 'Tencel' material, which I've never dealt with before. It is derived from a plant fiber/wood pulp and is in the same category as rayon for synthetic. It has a really neat texture to it, in the second picture you can kind of see, it has little squares of different texture.

The velvet is a medium weight and thick. The collar ribbons have little golden brackets/corners which is really pretty I think! The sleeve ends have gems and two gold beads. I am not a huge fan of the 'wool lace' on the collar. It is very frizzy and sticks to everything. But it is shown in the stock pictures true to the texture IRL. Color is a deep green, and true to stock pictures.

Construction looks fine. There are some little wrinkles/weird places where the fabric doesn't want to lay correctly, but I believe that is due to material.

This is a really weird 'sticky' cotton blend. It is very stiff and has a weird feel/texture. I can't really explain it, except to say it causes odd wrinkles and weird places where the fabric lays funny. This is also supposed to be black, but it doesn't look like a true black to me, looks very ashy.

I think this is a cotton/linen blend. It is really soft and has such a lovely texture. Not sure what the sleeves are made of, maybe just lace. The crochet lace really blends well into the fabric and I really like the back ties.

I was really disappointed in the color. It is much closer to a black than a chocolate as shown in the stock pictures (it really just looks black). The fading of the pattern is really ugly in the front and on the collar and looked much nicer in the stock pictures. The faux fur is also scratchy. And the velvet is really cheap.

I will be honest and say I have no idea why I ordered this. I don't really have anything to wear this with. But I was in a rush trying to find replacement accessories for the FoxCherry ones that I couldn't order. So in the picture, the base for the headdress has a lace bottom. This is not on the item I received, it's just interfacing, which is really ugly. I also dislike the white pom pom cotton ball accents, they are really cheap and ugly looking. This headdress and the stock one have different decorations and mine is really inferior to the different kinds of flowers in the middle of the stock photo.

Another one that when I opened up my box I kind of just scratched my head. The pearl accents had already started falling off the little blue balls. The hat itself is super cheap and fuzzy. There's a reason they only put it on the cat in the stock photo.

Great fit. I will say that these are very snug. I believe that's because they are wedges and you don't want your foot slipping or wiggling in these.
Construction: 4/5
No flaws that I could see. No exposed glue or scratches. The 'buttons' to attach the ankle straps are very very difficult to close however, so the hole could be just a bit bigger (this might get better with time).
Materials: 5/5
These are rubber and plastic. They are also waterproof. They are very comfortable! The wedge has some 'give' to absorb walking impact and it's very comfy.

Some minor flaws such as the back bows being a little off on each shoe. I'll have to glue some of them a bit. I'll also have to work with the toe bow on the left foot black shoe as it sticks up in the air. All the straps are snaps. The brown shoes do not have the polka dot lining for some reason.

Squeaky and creaky material (not too bad though). They weathered the shipping without any scuffs.

The scallops are really tiny and uneven so they are fuzzy/fraying because they are so short. The back bows are uneven and folded incorrectly before they were glued on. They will both need to be removed and glued back once I fix these issues.

Very supple and soft. The material has a soft shine but is mostly matte, which I love. I haven't walked around except on my carpet in these, but these kind of soles are usually kind of slippery, so I will give an update when I walk on some smoother surfaces.

These are easily the poorest of the shoes I bought from Seasons. The scallops are all over the place and uneven. The glue on the left boot is seen pulling away from the sole of the shoe. The ribbons are terrible and fraying. The back of the left boot you can see the threads straining to hold together the back seam and I took the picture before I even tried these on. I basically am afraid these are going to fall apart if I wear them out.

Creaky and squeaky, and this is the kind of 'white' that you can just tell is going to yellow up within a few months. Just really not what I like to see in shoes.

Easily the best constructed out of all the shoes. No glue, no wonky bows, no weird scalloping. The only complaint I have is the toe bows are just a tiny bit too far back for my tastes. But it could just be in my head.

Exactly what I wanted in these shoes. A soft shine, no scuffs. Really nice rubber soles. On a side note, it's really funny to me how all over the place Seasons is with shoes. I really can only recommend buying this model from them in terms of confidence in quality. You can even see the negative of the 'Secret Shop' mold logo on the soles...

Took me bumbling around Taobao to finally find these type of bags! I am really happy with them, they are very sturdy and come with shoulder straps and the inside has a little zippered pocket. All the stitching is really crisp. The only complaint I would make is the straps are just a bit too short for my taste for cross body.

I am so happy with this bag. It is a nice material with a soft shine and really pretty red with some slight different shades of red. The scallops are all really nice and event and all the stitching is sturdy and no loose threads. It's a magnet closure and has a good amount of room! I somehow misplaced my picture of the inside, sorry! Long, adjustable strap is great.

This wig is really small. I believe I have a completely average head size, so it could be good for people with smaller heads. The color isn't true to the stock image at all. The split is hardly noticeable in natural light (bottom picture). In the bathroom picture you can see one side is slightly more 'yellow' but it's not the same colors seen in the listing. It is pretty shiny with flash. Soft fibers.

I am really happy with this wig. I like the layered colors and in natural light it looks really great I think. Sorry for the stray hairs in the second photo, I forgot to smooth it out. This wig fits much better than the longer wig. The one thing I have to complain about is when I cut the bangs, the dark brown color is also layered under the bangs, so you have to be careful while cutting or else the darker layers will look a little funky. The least shiny in flash in my opinion. Fibers are very soft.
