OOC: Takes place a full day after this and the evening following the "Mending" thread.More often than not, it was annoying to be a prefect. Murphy received constant ribbing about it from his friends and now that Connor was at Hogwarts he would never hear the end of it. The badge did have it's perks, like getting himself and the Weasley twins out of ( Read more... )

"Well, I've finally finished reading all of material that'll be covered in our classes next week. It's nice to be ahead of schedule," she said, as if that was somehow different from the ordinary. "Oh, and I think I've made some progress on how to get downstairs in the secret passage. It's like I keep telling all of you, if you'd just read Hogwarts: A History..."

She shrugged, because though Murph was decidedly the smartest of the boys, she could bore him to tears too. "We should go outside. It's plausible, really. We thought we saw a student go out. Want to?"

"Oh, really?" Murph's eyes lit up at the prospect of seeing Connor even more than he already did. "Why read it when yer doin' a good job of it yerself? I don't hafta tell ye what any o'the words are. It's all in English 's far as I know." While always happy to show off his linguistic skills and translate anything that needed it, Murph felt like he may have to draw the line at Hogwarts: A History. He doubted he could stay awake to stomach it for very long.

"Aye, let's go," Murph said with a nod, steering her in the direction she wanted to go. He wouldn't mind going outside as there was something on his mind as well.

"Because, everyone should have the experience of solving a puzzle?" She even rolled her eyes at that.

It was easy to slip outside. For that matter, a lot of things were easier with a prefect badge, though she was careful about abusing the power - well, except for presently, but she felt it was justifiable since she hadn't been outside all day. That was partially due to avoiding Viktor Krum and also because she was studying, as usual.

"So, has Connor met Fred yet?" she asked

"I solve 'nough fuckin' puzzles," Murph said with a snort. "They're called exams."

Murph shook his head. "Naw, Connor hasn't met much o'anyone outside o'Hufflepuff. T'be honest," Murph paused, chewing at the inside of his cheek, "I dunno if I should introduce 'em."

"Ye see," he said awkwardly, squirming in Hermione's hold. "Fred kinda kissed me unexpectedly after the Yule Ball. I'm with Joanna now an' all, but I still don' think Connor'd take too kindly t'Fred cornerin' me without consent."
