something is wrong with my right knee. it’s hurting near-continually nowadays. at first it barely even registered, but now it’s getting to the point where i’m developing an aversion to walking around because of the pain

I'm currently marvelling in wonder at physical therapy. There was something wrong, persistently wrong with me and not improving despite my attentions, so I went and they poked at me for a bit, figured it out & said they can fix me. :o) Well, the hurty bit anyway.
(Not implying this is relevant to your knee, though I hope it gets the care it needs. In the meantime you could hire a palanquin...)
relevant or not, that’s really good to hear right now, cause i’m feeling pretty upset. i’ll hope for the best and hang in there till next week when i can get it looked at.
the palanquin… well, my family have a rented car, so that’s probably the next-best thing, ha. might make use of it, though i’ve got my fingers crossed that i’ll feel better about walking tomorrow.
thanks… i might take you up on that sometime in the next few days. i definitely appreciate it.
i’m feeling tons better today, aside from the knee. what it is, i think-i’m really excited that my people are visiting and i have a chance to show them around this place before i leave. i’m trying not to be too keyed-up, but even so all the little ups and downs of my mood are being amplified. there are so many transitions going on right now, it’s crazy.
are you and jen going to pennsic this year? stephen and i are flying back to the states on the 31st, but things get pretty nebulous after that. i’m thinking we might be able to catch you down in richmond, or up in pa-or maybe even both. i’m looking forward to seeing you!
We're not going to Pennsic this year. I'm taking some time off in early August to study for the national Internal Medicine boards, so I'll be much more flexible than usual.
good luck with the studying! super-tentative august dates: we’re probably going to be circulating through VA between aug 8th-19th. let me know if any of those days work better for you than others and we’ll try to gear things towards those.
also, saw the doctor yesterday-he says nothing seems lastingly wrong with my knee and gave me a pamphlet on how strengthening my legs can prevent and ease knee pain. i think my legs are plenty strong, but slights to my mighty quads aside, i’m pleased enough. reassured a little, anyway. i’ll get it checked out again in the states if it still hurts by the time we get there, but it does seem to be on the mend despite my fears. thanks again.
If there's even the slightest thing wrong, don't just assume it's normal, go to a doctor and have them run every test possible on you. Don't wait for 20 years like I did, go now. You have socialized medicine, which should sweeten the deal.
If you don't go now your leg will fall off or something.
socialized medicine = busy waiting rooms and rushed doctors, but i did get it looked at. the doctor gave me a pamphlet about how most knee pain exists because people have weak legs, and advised me to exercise my quadriceps. told the doctor that my legs are plenty strong already, but refrained from flexing at him. =P i really don’t think weak legs are my problem. the knee seems to be gradually getting better at any rate, which is good.
also, stephen and i are (tentatively) looking at being in virginia between aug 8th-19th. we’ll keep you posted as the dates become clearer-let us know if some days would work better for you than others and we’ll try to schedule accordingly.
