Heya... yeah, just wanted to say hello... and that I continue to be amazed at your pole-related abilities. I was looking through old yearbooks last night and found Mann yearbooks from '93 and '94. (in addition to OPRF) I also discovered that my friend Martha, who was helping me look through said yearbooks, knows Lucas Vriner, whom I described as sleazy and dislikable, but whom she knows as quite pleasant. ^_^;; But she knows him from ice skating, and I imagine he was less unpleasant to people who shared his interests... I also found cute 5th grade pictures of you and 3rd grade pics of Kira. :-P

hey again. =) sorry i’ve dropped the ball a bit on correspondence. i never did reply to your emails about the edsf scholarship… thanks so much for looking over my essays, i do appreciate it! your email caught me just as i was printing my final versions, and then i dumped my application in a mailbox and wiped it from my mind…

yay, yearbooks. i remember both lucas and his friend errol (can’t remember his last name) as being rather sleazy, like you say, though i can imagine lucas might be easier to get along with when not around errol. errol was a terror, heh. the only thing i remember that lucas did independently of errol was in jr. high when he told me that i could be hot if i didn’t wear such ugly clothes all the time. backhanded compliment ftw! looking back, my clothes in jr. high were pretty terrible, but they were all hand me downs so it wasn’t really my fault. =P ( ... )

Oh, don't worry about the correspondence thing. It happens. There are plenty of people I would love to keep up with but just don't have the time/energy/magical ability. :P I figured I was too late to help much with the essays, too--sorry ( ... )

Regular family gatherings are enough to do your nut in! o_0
It's such a shame we've missed you whilst you've been in the U.K. If only I hadn't failed my driving test!

true that. good luck with future driving tests… they can be really nerve-wracking, but it sounds like you’ve got the driving part of it down. stephen & i are looking at visiting back in a few years, so maybe we’ll see you then. or if you visit the states, you’re welcome to drop by, we’d be happy to host you! =)

thanks. i just want my computer to survive… i’m hoping that if i come to terms with the destruction of all my things now then i won’t be upset if, you know, all my things are destroyed. we’ll see how that goes. =P

the chinese pole thing is more akin to the knee hold than the flag, i think, and does look like it’d be easier. might even be safer than the knee hold, assuming one can figure out how to make the feet stick securely. the guy standing on the lamppost has the ridges of the lamppost to help fix his feet in place, but i also found a shot of someone doing the same thing on a proper chinese pole. when i think how to translate it over to a dance pole, though… seems like a person would just slide off. maybe with grippy footwear…

the chinese pole flag that i was referring to is different from those pictures-there’s an image of a guy doing it in one of the simply circus chinese pole pdfs. scroll down to fig. 12 and check it out. ;)

hey--good luck with the move and with your knee and everything. i don't have words for the things going on with your parents... but that's cool that you got them onto a pole at least. :)

and i think the "dopey" expressions that people use like "lordy" and "bless them" are endearing in a way... suth'n charm or something? i dunno.

thanks. =) my knee’s starting to feel better… i’m hoping the trend will continue and that it’s actual healing, not just a temporary effect of taking it easy and gulping ibuprofen like mad. =P

i’m from chicago and lived there almost through high school-i feel like i shouldn’t be picking up southernisms! “bless them” comes from a coworker of mine from back at darden who i really liked… doesn’t feel like quite the right fit coming from me, but eh-there aren’t equivalents for everything.
