Almost Third Trimester

So depending on which due date I'm going by (sticking to Dec. 22, which is the hospital midwife's date based on my first ultrasound) I'm hitting week 28 tomorrow. Which means I'm in the third trimester. Holy shit. This pregnancy has flown by. It seems like every time I turn around, I'm in the next trimester.

Ugh, how frustrating to not have your decision embraced and supported!

I am so happy to hear that you have a midwife you like and trust. That is SO important! You have to jive with the person in whom you are putting your life. That's the Ohio in me ;)

Would it help to tell your mom that CM/CPMs take a certification exam created and proctored by the same testing board as CNMs? Also, would it help her to know that the American College of Nurse-Midwives support CM/CPMs and homebirth? I'm just curious. Obviously, you know your mom better than I do and I don't want to offer advice--I just know that as a future CNM, I would still put my trust in a seasoned CPM/CM, you know? I would do it in a heartbeat.

I'm sorry that your mom is having such a hard time with it. Good job on telling her!

"...then the decision isn't made" sounds like she forgot whose decision it is. Continue to gently remind her. If she can't stop focusing on what she's anxious about, there may come a time when you have to let her know you won't talk with her about birth at all anymore. Maybe you could set a deadline for yourself on that. Just because I know you want to have a positive and trusting approach to this birth.

I cannot wait to meet Slyko!!

I am happy for you. Happy you are in the third trimester. Happy you feel confident about your midwife. Happy you are getting good advice. Happy you told your mom and are dealing well with her response. I hope everything goes as you wish it to.

So exciting. I can't wait to read your success story! It won't be long and then (hopefully) all your anxiety will be over.
