I hadn't talked to Mom since we got together on Monday and I told her about the HBAC plan.  We were both a little busy, and probably we were both avoiding things a little bit, to let us settle.  Today I called her, because she had a couple of meetings this week and I was wondering how they went.  We met up for lunch.  So we sit down, do a little ( Read more... )

I think it depends what the hospitals are like where you live. I am lucky to have some really nice hospitals near me. The one in Boulder is highly supportive of natural birth. Their epidural rate is only 50% and they don't even have that anesthesiologist on the premises. It's a green hospital. But I know from other people that a lot of other hospitals really kinda bully women into interventions they don't want.

Tell your mom if she's looking for negative information, that's all she is going to find. Maybe she can meet with Sue and ask her questions.

Eek! That's tough! One the plus side, it's a RETREAT, so maybe it will actually do what it's supposed to do and calm everyone down, right?

I totally wonder what would have happened if I had gone for a homebirth as opposed to a hospital one. We went to the hospital primarily due to financial reasons and I think I wish that I had researched ways to defray the cost/get Kaiser to pay for it.
