I can relate to having to push like that for over two hours. It was like that with my son. No progress. They finally did an episiotomy for me, and that did the trick, so I didn't need a cesarean. The reason I'd been having trouble? He had his hand on his cheek!

And yes, having real control over process seems to make a huge difference, even if it still ends up as a C. Or at least, that was my experience.
