In further efforts to completely ignore the drama going on in my personal life, I've been mainlining Doctor Who episodes. I started with the Ninth Doctor, even though I'd seen those episodes before. I loved Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. He felt dark, with these glints of manic joy. When David Tennant became the Tenth Doctor, I'd taken a

I am so glad that you mentioned Christopher Ecclestone as I loved him and he seems to be rarely mentioned these days. Unlike you, I really liked Rose and the new breed of strong and intelligent companions that she heralded. With each regeneration I have found it really hard to like the next doctor but I have and immensely. Matt Smith actually took me the longest and yet now, he is so right.
I agree with you that there is a lot going on and I think the storylines are really very rich and can be accessed at so many levels. Did you see the 50th anniversary spoof: http://doris-mash.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/the-fiveish-doctors-reboot-inspired.html So very funny.
Here's to the next adventures.

I do agree that Rose was both strong and intelligent. I'm not sure what it was about her that bothered me. Maybe because she was blond, and pretty - though most of the companions in the New Who (haven't watched Classic episodes yet) are attractive and Amy Pond moreso than Rose, I think. I might go back and rewatch to see what I can discover.
I haven't seen the spoof, but I'm going to check it out!
Thank you!

The spoof is 30 minutes long and will be so very worth it to watch. It could be that you need to know all the references to the classic Dr Who, or perhaps there is enough humour in it that is obvious enough to be enjoyed.
I had trepidations about Billie Piper playing the role of Rose Tyler thinking she was just a pop bimbo but I was wrong and very impressed with how the role was played. I loved Amy Pond's look and how she sounded, and I'm sorry that Martha did not last longer :-(
