Oh man, fabulous! I love how you just jump into the action and let us figure out what's going on as we go along. I can't wait for more, and also, I love that they renamed the ship Revenge! So fantastic.
Revenge is a fine and traditional name for a pirate ship. I dithered over what to rename the ship and decided the simple and obvious was the best and gave the al'kesh the Egyptian name.
It's interesting to note, I've never heard in canon any Goa'uld (or any Hive, Ori, or Replicator) ship referred to by anything other than its type, ha'tak, tel'tak, al'kesh, cargo, etc. My theory is that they are named and all of them are named something pompous like The Fist of the Great God Apophis Smites All Enemies. Asgard and Ancient ships had names, though.
As to jumping in the action, yes. Since I'm writing this primarily for my pleasure, I'm not going to explain a lot. I think most readers can figure it out without being spoon fed.
Awesome! Start to finish, this is so much fun and just terrific! I love how you've translated the scenario and I can't wait to see where this goes next.
I know this is a distraction fic but it's a really good one. Dread Space Pirates FTW!
I'd probably feel guilty but I suspect this might be something of a swan song. I've been picking up the tectonic tremors of a major fandom shift of some sort on my part. Though I have a few story ideas still that I always meant to write and haven't yet...like this one.

I think readers are in for a surprise re the expedition and Sam would kind of like a break from the surprises she's encountered.

Not in this AU.
No Sheppard, no McKay, no Weir, no time travel, no failsafe, no Rising.

Oh, I can just see Sam and Radek when Rodney and Daniel show up to "save" the expedition. :-D
