His damn hair is getting in his eyes too much. Too long. He's surprised Merle didn't get after him about it... But then, they had too much else on their minds, too much unsaid between them, the past looming over them both like some lightning struck tree ready to tip and crush them under its rotten weight, and the Governor rearing up to turn the future into just a dead end.
Daryl chuckles to himself.
Dixons know all about dead end lives, just never thought it would be dead and not ending. He doesn't want to end up like Merle, but he ain't no pussy, he'll take care of himself on his own when it comes down to that.
He might miss Merle, but he sure as hell don't need the sonovabitch. He's always been better on his own.
It just aches more now.
It's Carol he really misses these days and nights, like god damn Righteous Rick cut off another piece of Daryl the way Merle did his hand, so bad he has to rub at his chest sometimes because breathing without knowing where she is, if she still is, hurtsAnd he doesn't know if it's ever going

"Rodney," and John's drawl should be enough to give what comes next away. "Is that mistletoe?"
Contrary to popular opinion, Rodney is not completely socially maladroit. He knows that John is warning him off with the flat smirk and the tense shoulders. He just doesn't care.
He has plans for Christmas this year.
(Or, why Rodney cozies up to that guy in Botany, starting a series of ridiculous rumors about his relationship with Dr. Parrish that have absolutely zero foundation in fact.)
"He keeps smiling. And rubbing his hands together. Do you think he's been possessed by a Grinch?"
"What's a grinch?" Ronon asks, interrupting the physicists whispering and staring at McKay. He places his hand on his blaster, hoping it will be something he can shoot.

"I think he's seeing someone."
"Who, McKay? Who would see McKay?"
"Someone in Botany."
"Didn't he already date someone from Botany? Before Keller?"
"Yes, they both dumped his ass. But I saw him coming out of Dr. Parrish's office. Twice now."
"You should not gossip so much," Teyla said to the last physicist, making him jump a foot above his cafeteria seat, because not only had he not seen her, he hadn't heard her. "Doctors McKay and Parrish's private lives are private"Christmas is coming up

This is MARVELOUS! I adore it! I've always adored the way you give voice to these characters, but this is just especially wonderful; I can hear every word: Ronon's threatening growl, the way Teyla's voice takes on that dangerous lilt, Sheppard's drawl. It's all just so very perfect: funny, and light-hearted, and sentimental, and absolutely CANONICAL! You're brilliant! Bravo! *applauds wildly*
