The act becomes the art of growing up

Julien spent the early evening organizing his workroom and unpacking the last of their boxes. Julien and Eden had been entirely domestic for the past week, and other than meeting with Logan to discuss the events in the city during their absence, neither had been out of the other's sight for longer than a few moments. Tonight, however, he could ( Read more... )

Reggie had planned when he went to bed that morning that he'd spend the next night hunting, but that was before he'd woken up inspired, not even bothering to shower or dress any further than slipping into a pair of near-at-hand jeans, spreading himself out in the center of the gallery with his own charcoal and the conté Ryan had gifted him from Paris ( ... )

"Julien. What brings you calling tonight?"

Julien brushed the hair from his eyes, reaching out to take Reggie's hand before enfolding him in a hug. "Bon soir, Lapin. Am I disturbing you? I was going to call, but then I decided that I didn't want to wait to see your lovely face."

Julien didn't bother with the Presence - Reggie would have seen right through it anyway, and plus he liked to think that they were better friends than that. He would trust that Reggie could listen to him without any supernatural plying.

"I wanted to see the space, to get an idea of the pieces I want to incorporate in your show. Fen has seen a couple pieces from my new series and he seemed particularly taken with them. It's so flattering - Fen knows his art, after all."

Reggie opened his arms and returned the hug, smirking slightly. There were very few people Reggie would really let get away with showing up unannounced, but Julien was very much one of them, and apparently he knew it.

"Well, come in then." Reggie turned as soon as Julien closed the door, moving easily through the darkness to gather up his now abandoned piece. He hoped the inspiration would strike again once Julien left.

With his work carefully put away, he moved to turn on the lights for Julien's benefit, spreading his arms to indicated the entire gallery space, entirely redesigned from his last show.

"I've been spending some time with your son, he seems excited to be included in the show, and I am excited to have him. And you, of course."

Julien activated Auspex to guide his way, shutting his eyes quickly in the split second when he heard Reggie move for the light. He let his normal vision return, careful not to blind himself, and then proceeded to look around the gallery, taking in its redesign.

Julien moved forward to study the wall of Reggie's own art, his eyes immediately lost to the beauty of the blind artist's work. He took a slow breath to fight off the daze he can feel coming, and then turned to face Reggie with a grin.

"Luka is quite sweet on you. Like father, like son, I suppose. You were all he could talk about when I returned. It's very sweet." Julien sighed turning back to Reggie's art. "I'm overcome by your brilliance as usual, Reggie. You're going to have to forgive me."

Reggie elected to lean against a nearby wall and let Julien take his time examining the pieces he'd already hung. He nods at the mention of Luka, smiling proudly at the lilt in Julien's voice at indicates he's having trouble looking away from the displayed art.

"Luka, though I'm sure you already know, is a swiftly budding genius. I'm as honored to work with him as he seems to be with me. With brothers like you and he, this show will be my best yet, I am positive."

Reggie shakes his head, while he loves letting Julien lose himself, he was interrupted in the midst of his work.

"Honored as I am, you didn't come here simply to stare at my work."
