Eden made his way lazily toward the pier, where he had arranged to meet with Rémy. He figured such a public place would put the ghoul at ease, and from there they could find a more private place, perhaps a restaurant booth if Rémy was hungry, and talk privately ( Read more... )

Eden glanced up at Rémy's soft, concerned question, giving him a gentle smile, always pleased by his ghoul's natural empathy. He was a perfect candidate for Auspex, and never failed to make Eden proud when he did use the discipline.

The fact that he didn't even need Auspex to read Eden sometimes made the Cainite even prouder.

Eden reached across the table and took Rémy's hand, holding it gently and watching their fingers for a moment. He brushed his thumb over Rémy's knuckles, drawing in a slow breath and then looking up to meet Rémy's eyes.

"You're ready for the Embrace. And I'm ready to Embrace you." Eden opened Auspex then, brushing Rémy's mind to watch his reaction unfold honestly.

Remy sipped at his latte, watching Eden around the cup and through the steam that fogged his glasses. Eden had a little smile on his face, but it didn't quite reach his eyes, even when Eden took Remy's free hand and brushed his thumb against Remy's knuckles.

"You're ready for the Embrace."

Remy inhaled a mouthful of latte and gasped, coughing and setting his cup down quickly to keep from dropping it and thus burning himself.

"And I'm ready to Embrace you."

Remy's other hand moved of it's own accord, grabbing Eden's hand and squeezing hard. His breath quite suddenly was coming entirely in wheezing gasps, and he couldn't seem to hear the goings on in the rest of the coffee shop.

Jaques, ever aware of his master's level of panic, sat up, ears pointed forward, and yipped nervously.

"Mister Frost..." Remy didn't know what else to say, and words died on his tongue.

Eden reached to grasp Rémy's hands with both of his, squeezing tight and meeting his eyes, he's tempted to dip into Presence, if just to calm Rémy's breathing and help him to understand that Eden means what he says. He refrained though, wanting nothing but pure, uninfluenced emotions between them.

"Rémy," Eden lifted one hand, cupping Rémy's cheek in his palm, his thumb brushing softly under his eye. "You have changed so much since I first began to follow you, since that day I walked into Little Devotional and saw that shy little boy working timidly on his graphic novel. You've become stronger, more confident, though you've managed to keep your gentle nature."

"You're ready, darling, ready to become even stronger," Eden let his hand fall to rest on Rémy's shoulder, gripping lightly, still meeting his eyes. "And I am ready to take the leap with you."

Jaques leapt from his own chair to insinuate himself into Remy's lap, putting his paws on Remy's chest and licking at his chin. Remy snapped out of his fleeting terror, looking up into Eden's eyes and really hearing Eden's words, in the background hoping no one else can hear them.

Eden's words made Remy's heart beat painfully in his chest, and he finally tore his gaze from Eden's, looking at the table and attempting to blink back sudden tears. He failed, and tears rolled slowly down his cheeks.

He sniffled, gulped, and took a slow, shaky breath before managing to meet Eden's eyes again, blinking a few times and removing one hand from Eden's grip to take off his glasses, wiping his tears on the back of his wrist, though more tears quickly took their place.

Remy put his glasses back on, and smiled weakly at Eden. "Mister Frost, I don't think I am ready. I mean. I don't mean any disrespect, you know that. But. I just. I just got married, and I want to have a child ( ... )

Eden gave Rémy a sweet, almost amused smile, and drew his hands back to wrap them around his warm mug, his ring, a twice over symbol of love, showing plainly on his left hand. "As our pack has seemed to prove several times, without even really meaning too, being Embraced does not stop you from being married, from loving," a little smirk graced Eden's lips, and he met Rémy's eyes. "And I think Julien has more than proved that unlife does not stop you from being a father."

"Are we going home? Right now?"

Eden's smile turned warm, his affection for his ghoul showing clearly. "Oh darling, I didn't mean tonight," Eden gave the softest laugh, then grew a little serious again, back to business. "You will have two weeks to really decide. Two weeks to live and soak up as much waking life as you can. Do not miss a single sunrise or sunset, hold your Ryan, taste all your favorite foods. Live and breathe and commit everything to memory ( ... )
