So, I always consider myself lucky in that I don't have particularly expensive tastes. I like nice stuff, but no desire for hundred dollar handbags or similar tendencies.
Then Mom suggested I start looking for a treeless saddle for the pony.
I can not find anything with my specifications for even twice what I would like spend.
*laugh*

So most saddles involve trees?

yep, saddle trees are the traditional wood (now sometimes plastic or wood reinforced with metal etc) frame that gives saddle its shape. If broken, most saddles are not worth replacing it, its sorta like the engine of a car in that regard.
Because of Sez's odd back, finding a tree that displaces the weight correctly without moving is difficult and/or impossible. Add onto that, the fact his weight swings wildly through ought the year, and treeless seems like an interesting alternative, and despite how expensive it is, certainly more economical than say, a custom saddle.
