i don't understand the age thing. we got the, "gosh, you guys are young" thing all the time, and we STILL get it for some reason. I'm sure if we were just now getting married (at 23) no one would say anything, but apparently the two years between 21 and 23 make a big difference?
yeah, we got it a lot, too. I think more b/c we were the first of all our friends to get married. it's a total reversal here, though. most women my age in Mexico already have 2 or 3 kids. They get married at 15, 16, 17 just like that's what you do!
We got the age thing, too. A lot of it came from my mom, which was weird because she got married at 18. My parents are still happily married, so I kind of threw that back at her.
I think it's very silly. Just wait...once you've been married for a year or two, people will start telling you it's time for a baby. Even if you're still under 25, they'll tell you you're getting up there in age and it's time. What a load of crap.
Do things when you want. If God has other plans, they'll happen, but we also have choice and will for a reason. You get to decide if you're ready. NO ONE ELSE. Unfortunately, people who are slightly to majorly dissatisfied with their lives feel the need to comment on others' lives.
it's kind of different with my mom, because she got married at 19 and that ended in a divorce, so i can understand her concern, but everyone's different. yeah people freak out when we tell them we're not interested in having children.
Yea...I can understand the concerns people have. The divorce rate is very high, and from some people I appreciated the concern. I didn't listen to it, obviously. It was the random people that judged me for it that I hated.
On the baby front, we've actually had people ask if we're having trouble conceiving because we've been married so long without kids. (It's been almost three years!) I just tell them, "Yep. Lots of trouble conceiving...I wonder if the birth control has anything to do with it?" They usually leave me alone after that. :-P
