A/N: written real quickly for dark (AGAIN SOMETHING FOR HER I KNOW) cause we all need a little something like this every now and again.
Summary: Late at night, after a long day. Everyone needs a break now and again. This is Jared's way of having it. *Jared angst*
Jensen woke up in the middle of the night with the feeling that something was off. Turning over in his bed he reached for his lover but came up with a handful of sheets instead. He rubbed the sleep out of his eyes and sat up, he curled the sheets into his fists and noted how cold they were, Jared had been out of bed for a while now.
He pushed the sheets off his body, grabbed yesterday’s clothes and walked through the house, everything was quiet and dark, not even the dogs could be heard. Walking past the kitchen he noticed that the porch light was on outside. He walked up to the glass door but still couldn’t see Jared, he slid the door open and saw Harley and Sadie’s pop up above the tall grass in the back end of their yard.
He approached the two heads slowly unsure of where Jared actually was and not wanting to accidentally step on his lover. Just beyond the dogs Jensen could see some flattened grass and knew that for some reason Jared was there laying down. God he hoped there wasn’t someone else there with him.
“Jared?” Jensen whispered still not actually hearing anything.
Pushing the grass aside Jensen saw Jared laying there staring up at the sky - alone - with tears running down his face.
“Jared Baby? What’s wrong?” Jensen said crouching down to his boyfriend. All Jared did was blink, his eyes avoiding Jensen’s at all cost.
Jensen placed his legs either side of Jared and pulled his partner up so that Jared was resting completely on his chest, both of them now lying together looking up at the stars. Jared gave a huge sigh and rolled the two of them around so that he was under Jensen but still looking up at the sky with Jensen’s head resting on his chest instead. This time Jensen sighed into Jared’s large chest and wrapped his arms around his lover and snuggled in further when he felt Jared’s arms wrap around him too.
“Just watching the stars” Jared mumbled, Jensen straining just to hear it.
“Why you doing that Jay?” Jensen said lifting up slightly and kissing the tears away.
“It’s just that sometimes... Sometimes I just feel just... I don’t know, it doesn’t matter” Jared said still in just a whisper.
“Jay it does matter, tell me what you’re feeling,” Jensen said also in a whisper.
“I don’t know how to explain it. Numb? Maybe?” Jared said giving a small shrug of indifference.
“Baby why?” Jensen said getting more worried now; he didn’t know that his boyfriend felt like this sometimes.
“I don’t know, I just wonder, like why am I here, what’s the point, don’t worry Jen, I’ll get over it,” Jared had no idea how to explain what he was feeling.
“It’s alright Jay, I think I get it, but why are you out here?” Jensen asked, still kind of confused, but accepting it anyway.
“Aren’t they amazing? They are great to get lost in, you know? Just get lost in your thoughts and just... I don’t know, disappear.”
“I guess I know what you mean, but Jay, you shouldn’t have to feel that way at all, ever!” Jensen said with conviction. “I’m here for you, Baby, ok? You feel like that ever you come to me and we’ll talk it out, or heck, we can get lost in our thoughts together. You scared me waking up only to find you gone.”
“I’m sorry Jen, I don’t know what came over me, and I hate that I feel this way, but I cant help it, and usually when I get this way I forget that there are others out there that I can rely on, like you.” Jared said still trying to explain where he was coming from.
“Ok then, I guess I’ll just have to remind you that I’m always around. I love you Jay, and don’t you forget it.” Jensen said kissing Jared’s chest.
“I love you too Jen. And thank you,” Jared said, louder this time as if announcing it to all the stars, as he kissed Jensen on the top of his head.
Both men stayed out there in the field until the sun’s light started creeping out over the trees and until the very last star disappeared in silence.
