Summary: This is how Misha's first day on set really happened... Jared and Jensen happened.
A/N: Written in like 10 minutes, 4am cause I couldn't sleep.
It was almost as if he was the baby on set. Everything was new to him and he felt lost in the new environment. These people that surrounded him had already become a family, and here he was, the new baby trying desperately to fit in. Misha Collins was starting out his first day on the set of Supernatural, he had heard of the show but never actually watched it, and now here he was playing the lead angel. It was surreal to say the least.
The two real leads were still nowhere to be seen, a bunch of divas he thought making his way through the set. It was his first scene and he was meant to be doing it with one of them, Jensen Ackles, and another actor he had already meet, but this was insane. He had no idea where he was even going. Misha was so lost in thought that he didn’t see the giant of a man, usually very hard to miss, until he bumped right into the solid mass of muscle. Some security or something Misha thought.
“Hey man, sorry about that,” the tall guy quickly apologised, “Hey! You’re Misha Collins right?” he asked.
“Uh... Yeah?” Misha replied, he really had to get to set and didn’t need some fan asking for an autograph.
“Don’t you have a scene now?”
“Yeah, I really have to go,” Misha said sidestepping the man and walking away from him.
“Hey! Wait up!” he called, Misha sighed and turned around, this was not the way he saw today happening. “I think you’re going the wrong way. At least Jensen said they were on lot C today?” he asked.
“Yeah! I’m actually kind of lost...” Misha said embarrassed.
“No problem, come on!” tall man said, seemingly more like a puppy then man.
“So... ahh...” Misha started, not even sure what he was trying to ask.
“You nervous? It’s your first shoot with us right?”
“Yeah. How’d you know?” stalker fan.
“Seen most of the script, know the schedules,” he replied.
“Oh yeah, right,” Misha said, sighing in relief as a building with a large ‘C’ printed on it came into view. “Thanks a lot for showing me the way! I better get going,” Misha said reaching out to shake the other’s hand.
“It was nothing, I was coming this way anyway, waiting up for Jen.”
Misha coughed. Who is this guy? He thought to himself.
“Jensen!” the tall man shouted as soon as they entered the building, no one in the room taking notice of it except for one guy. “Look! I found a stray!” he said, Misha looking up in shock as he realised the guy was pointing at him.
“Hi Misha, sorry about Jared here, he can be a little over the top sometimes,” Jensen said reaching his hand out to shake his own.
Jared? He was walking along with the lead of the show the whole time. “It’s no problem, he got me here at least!” Misha said smiling, looking up at the two men before him. “So um, what’s going on?” he asked after a while.
“Issues with lighting or sound or something, we have to wait a while, come,” Jensen informed, pulling him over to three director’s chairs.
Misha sat down beside Jensen, Jared taking a seat on the other side, nervously fidgeting with his hands while silently freaking out. “Where’s Jim?” Jared asked breaking another long pause.
“Make up, get rid of some more lines,” Jensen easily joked. “What are you doing here anyway? I thought you weren’t on until lunch?” Jensen asked, his focus solely on Jared.
“I didn’t wanna stay home alone, came here to see you instead,” Jared whispered, he too forgetting that Misha was sitting beside them.
Jensen smiled sweetly, his eyes shining, Misha knew he just had seen something personal, something he probably wasn’t really meant to see. Jensen coughed, breathing in deep to break the tension. He looked over at Misha and Misha was something akin to panic flash through his eyes. Misha tried to smile, tried to reassure the other man from something he didn’t even know, but it seemed to work, Jensen relaxing further into his chair.
“So man, where are you staying while here?” Jared asked.
“Just a hotel, not too far from here, no one knows how long I’m going to be around for anyway,” Misha explained softly, looking between the two men.
“Yeah, you should come by our house tonight if you’re not doing anything, Jensen here can make a mean stake!” Jared smiled, his arms talking just as much as his mouth.
“If you’re sure...” Misha said hesitantly, his questioning gaze resting on Jensen.
“The big man has invited you over, you’re welcome to come, even crash,” Jensen added almost as an afterthought. “Just be careful, you crash too many times you end up moving in with him,” he joked.
“Thanks guys, I appreciate it.”
“No problem, you can come back with us,” Jared said. “Uh I think they are calling ya’ll,” Jared said nodding towards a balding man who was waving a script around calling at them.
Shooting went great, he never realised how fun a job could be until now. If Misha wasn’t in a scene he was watching it, witnessing the chemistry between the two brothers form from the two best friends. He ate with them during lunch, Jared piling his plate full, Jensen being more reasonable, and they all sat eating with the other crew members and extra’s. Jared sharing a joke between many while Jensen chatted easily to others. This was the family he was intruding in, he just hoped he would be as easily accepted.
The day came to a quick end, Misha well past the exhausted state he was running purely on caffeine. He collapsed onto the director’s chair, he had been assigned, watching as Jensen and Jared headed off towards what Misha assumed was their trailers until Jared suddenly swung around, his eyes wild as he searched for something. Jared was now running towards him, it seemed like he was standing in front of him within only a few steps, breathes coming out laboured as he tried to speak.
“Come on. Can’t have you just sitting out here,” Jared said grabbing Misha by the wrist and yanking him up out of his chair.
Misha went willingly, too tired to really fight against the huge man - not that he would ever try it - or to really ask what was going on. They caught up with Jensen and all three of them walked in silence towards the trailer area.
“You can rest up with us in here, relax a bit until we find out if we can head home,” Jared said unlocking his trailer door before herding the two older men into it.
“Jay how the fuck can you still be so freaking active and awake?” Jensen complained immediately collapsing onto Jared’s couch.
“It’s easy when you’re still young!” he replied laughing.
Jensen just huffed in reply, his eyes starting to droop. Misha stood at the door nervously. He didn’t know what to do here, this was like the guy’s second home and here he was just standing in the middle of it. These two didn’t even know him, had barely even managed to talk to him today, and yet they had so easily included him in their obvious routine.
“We aren’t allowed alcohol on set, so you’ll have to settle with this,” Jared said slapping a cold soda into his hand before sitting another on the table beside Jensen. “Make yourself at home,” Jared said motioning around the small space before he took a seat beside Jensen.
Misha looked around and spotted an unmade bed and another small couch hiding under a pile of clothes, he walked over to the couch, picking the lesser of two evils to sit on.
“So how was the first day?” Jared asked, Jensen obviously too out of it for conversation.
Misha shrugged taking a long pull of his drink before replying, “it was great, definitely different to some of the other sets I’ve been on,” he commented. “Thanks for helping me out before,” he said smiling.
“That’s good man, glad we haven’t scared you off yet!” Jared joked looking over towards the other man. “Sorry about this one, he always gets tired after a long day like this, and if we disturb him then he just gets cranky... and we don’t want a cranky Jensen,” Jared said, Misha just realising that it was much lower than he had heard it so far.
“It’s fine, I think I’m about ready to do the same,” Misha said simply.
“Oh! Well if you wanted to just head home instead of coming past it’s no problem! I’ll make sure someone gets you to your hotel!” Jared said, looking as if he was about ready to jump off the couch.
“No! I want to come over, if the offer still stands I mean...”
“Of course it does, but it was your first day... we get it if...” Jared started only to then have a lap full of Jensen.
Misha chuckled, Jensen had completely fallen asleep, his body collapsing down to one side, ultimately falling all over Jared’s. He fully expected Jared to just shove him off and continue on as they had been, but it didn’t happen. A soft smile graced Jared’s face as he wrapped an arm around Jensen’s shoulder, keeping the older man firmly by his side, Jensen’s head now resting more comfortably in the groove between Jared’s neck and shoulder.
“What were we saying?” Jared asked moving around to accommodate for Jensen.
“Nothing important,” Misha said, now definitely feeling like he was an intruder.
Jared went to open his mouth but was once again silenced by his phone vibrating in his pocket. He fumbled for it before placing it against his ear, his other hand unknowingly starting to caress Jensen’s hair. Jared hung up after a few nods and a final ‘thanks’, “We can go now, car is already on its way,” he informed slipping the phone back in its place.
“Ok, I’ll just get my...”
“They have your coat and crap in the car, you left it back on set,” Jared said holding back a laugh.
“Fuck...” Misha breathed, “Thanks, I completely forgot about all that!”
“It’s cool, first day is always demanding,” Jared nodded. “Hey, Jensen, come on, it’s time to get up now...” Jared whispered, his mouth practically touching Jensen’s ear as he spoke.
“Few more minutes...” Jensen mumbled turning his face so that it was hidden against Jared’s skin.
“Sorry, it’s time to get up now, car’s here to take us home,” Jared continued, looking up briefly at Misha before turning towards the other man.
“Not now baby.” It was muffled, but Misha could clearly make out what was said.
A car horn beeped signalling its arrival, “There it is, come on,” Jared said kissing the top of Jensen’s head before pulling him up.
Misha scrambled for the door, fumbling with the handle before managing to get it open for Jared who was still supporting most of Jensen’s weight. Jared nodded in thanks, tossing his keys to Misha to lock up as well. The car ride was silent and awkward. Jensen was awake but still completely out of it, Jared on the other hand was acting strange - well, stranger than usual. He was twitchy, his eyes never landing on one spot, and his finger’s banging out a silent beat. Misha had a fairly good idea of why he was acting in such a way, but wasn’t sure how to approach it.
“Sorry about Jensen, he’s never really like this...” Jared mumbled after some time, receiving a whack from Jensen for his troubles.
“Shut it,” Jensen said, starting to sound more awake.
“I’m just going to order pizza tonight instead, you need more rest,” Jared said, “hope you don’t mind pizza?” Jared asked finally meeting Misha’s gaze.
“Pizza is fine,” Misha nodded, “Ah...” he started just as the car pulled up to a modest sized house.
“We’re here,” Jared said hastily getting out of the car, this time not even bothering to help Jensen out.
The pizza arrived after a quick phone call, beer and some movies broken out around the same time. “Jared, are you ok?” Misha asked once everything started to wind down.
“Yeah. Why wouldn’t it be?” he said, once again not meeting Misha’s eyes.
“Jared? What’s wrong?” Jensen asked concerned.
“Nothing! Nothing is wrong!” he said a little too quickly.
“Jared..?”
“You fell asleep in the trailer...” Jared said. Misha watching as Jensen’s face started to fall.
“What’s going on guys?” Misha asked now very confused.
“Wh-what did I do?” Jensen asked stumbling over his words.
“Nothing! Guys, what’s going on?”
“Misha... you know what you saw right?” Jared asked obviously taking care in what he was saying.
“Yeah..?”
“Well... no one else can know about that right?” Jared said.
“Know about what? Nothing happened right?” Misha said, a small smile playing on his lips. “Nothing happened guys,” he said easily.
“Thanks,” Jared sighed, Jensen nodding along.
Jared got up from his spot on the couch and walked past Misha, ruffling his hair as he went over to where Jensen was laying, his head on a pillow and his feet up. Jared pushed the pillow aside before helping Jensen sit up some and sliding his lap into place, replacing the pillow.
“Jay? What are ya doing?” Jensen said, his accent becoming more noticeable.
“Getting comfortable,” Jared asked, his eyes evaluating Misha’s response.
Misha sat smiling, taking another pull of his beer before kicking up his own legs onto the table that held the pizza boxes. He tried to show the other two men that he wasn’t worried about what they were doing, something he did working because the next thing he knew Jared was leaning down and placing a gentle kiss against Jensen’s lips.
It wasn’t as awkward as Jensen thought it would be the next morning. Misha and Jared both up well before he was, both with coffees in hand.
“Morning,” Misha said passing over a mug of coffee to Jensen.
Jensen grunted in thanks, leaning back against Jared as he came up behind him, his arms wrapping around his waist. “I knew he would be a good one,” Jared said looking straight at Misha.
“And to think, I didn’t even recognise you yesterday,” Misha mumbled causing the other two to laugh.
