Found out today that Joanna Russ has entered hospice. I'm not sure why I feel so shocked to hear that--I did not know she was ill, and it's not like I've kept up with her life in recent years. I think partly it's because only hearing that made me realise how much her writing had affected me.

Thanks - I just didn't know what to do with the feelings, so wrote them down. Am seeing unconfirmed reports that she died earlier today. Sigh.

The website for Locus is reporting that she has died. Her light will be missed and I can only hope that we're not facing a time when it could change back.

I have a copy of And Chaos Died here I've yet to read. Decades ago I ran screaming from Heinlein and it took me many years to discover other writers I'd been missing.

I had just seen that too. So sad. And I think it could change back, all too easily.

And, yeah. I can see how Heinlein could do that to you, especially later Heinlein.
