[As independent as the Tianzi tried to be, she was still a young girl with very little experience in every day matters- one of which being what to do when she fell ill. In Luoyang, attendants would be called immediately, a doctor soon enough, but here...

After being admitted and settling in to her room, she felt at least a bit better- the medications were helping, much better than her previous method, which had been making soup. Maybe pneumonia... well- at least it was a first for her if it was?

Unlike her usual chipper demeanor, the young Empress looked rather tired and worn down, fever making her a bit paler than normal.]

I'm sorry for dragging you out here, Mister Marie... I didn't think it would get like this...

[It had been nice in a strange way. Not that Tianzi had fallen ill, not that she hurt or ailed; but being there to fret. There was something familiar about it, something normal about standing at her bedside, about fluffing her pillows, about pushing a chair closer, farther, closer, and sinking into a nervous seat of observance.]

Huh...? You don't need to apologize, Tianzi. I wanted to be here.

[Not dragged at all, and it gave him a pang that she would phrase it that way. He could not see the pallor of her skin, or the darkness under her eyes, but he could hear everything in the weakened pull of her lungs, the shadows in her voice.]
