That's what I really don't get, the majority of Americans stopped living in rural areas DECADES ago. It's like they're taking a big dump on over half the country. From what I've seen and heard, real small-town values seem to involved being wacked out on meth while getting pregnant at age 14 and being scared of minorities. I can do without those values.

The "elites" thing brings to mind stuff like Mao's Cultural Revolution, and the Khmer Rouge, where people with half a brain were considered the enemy and systematically slaughtered or "re-educated". The whole anti-science/anti-teacher/anti-knowledge movement baffles and scares me. Hell, read that stupid "Mallard Fillmore" strip for a couple days and you'll be wondering just what teacher diddled Bruce Tinsdale as a boy to make him hate teachers so much. HOW DARE THEY BE EDUCATED!
