The ringing phone wakes you with a start; you grab the reciever off your nightstand, expecting the station. "Charlie Swan."

"Charlie?"

It takes you a moment to recognize the sick, slurred voice. "Billy? Is that you?"

"Charlie, man, can you come get me? I can't drive." Billy's words are running together. A quick glance at the clock tells you it's just after three in the morning.

"Uh, sure." You're already getting out of bed, blinking the sleep out of your eyes. Billy doesn't pull shit like this; something has to be seriously wrong. "Where are you?" He gives you directions for some bar a ways to the north, near the Makah reservation, and you're out the door in ten minutes.

Billy's sitting on the bumper of his car in the restaurant parking lot when you arrive, his forearms resting on his knees and his head hanging. When he sees you drive up in the cruiser, he stands and staggers -- staggers -- towards the passenger's side door. He gets in and the smell of cigarette smoke and whiskey rolls over you, stinging your nostrils ( ... )

Heh. Yeah. There's my headcanon on THAT whole little thing... (This was especially why I wanted to get it out before the Guide. You *know* she's going to resolve that, after taking so much crap over it. And I'm sure I'll hate the resolution.)

this is a very interesting perspective. I always just assumed it was Sam's dad because he was a fuck up already.

I never wanted to picture Billy and Harry like that

In my headcanon, Billy and Sarah's relationship was far from perfect... never got to the drabbles, obviously, but he never appreciated quite what he had until it was gone. (Though he did love her a lot, and feels absolutely wretched here. One night stand, not a proper affair.)

In canon Harry's not listed as one of the possibilites for Embry's father. I assume that means that Leah and Seth's wolf bloodline flows through Sue... probably Paul and Jared, too, since their fathers aren't considered possibilites either. (Actually, what I assume is that Meyer put in no thought at all. But that's my fanwank take on it.)

It should be noted, also, that Billy is about twenty-three years old here... not terribly wise.

They all had kids super-young. I'm pretty sure I had some canon-basis for thinking that... but I can't quite remember what it is.

Two words: Embry's. Mom.

(For reals, I jumped off of my bed and paced around the room halfway through this one. It is so perfect. Also, for maximum dramatic effect it makes sense for Billy to be Embry's dad. It could have caused so much shit between the pack members in BD - actual conflict - and Meyer just dropped it.)

Yep. We don't know Sam or Quil's dads. Maximum dramatic effect clearly goes to Billy. (We'll see what the Guide decides. I have no doubt that Meyer will make the decision in that.)

Thank you :) I don't know where all the fic is coming from (actually, I think it's because Sam makes me double-sad and so I work on other things when I can) but I'm glad you're liking it! And yeah... this is my take on Embry's parentage. Though there's nothing at all in canon to indicate in any direction.

In my headcanon, yeah :( Kinda synchs up with the whole "not getting laid since the twins were born" thing. Billy's character is super-interesting to me, and his relationship with Sarah... yeah. God, so much heartfail, though.

Yeah :( After the Guide's fuckwittery, though, I've come to the conclusion that if Meyer can never decide on Embry's father, then I can do that too. I'll just resolve it a different way in every story. So there. *sticks tongue out at SM* Hmph.
