There is one decision that defines the rest of your life.

She went on one date with Cullen and wound up in a hospital in Phoenix with a smashed leg and a cracked skull. When he shows up to take her to prom as though nothing had happened you know you should put your foot down and tell the ghostly little bastard to get the hell off your property. Bella is still seventeen, a minor, and completely within your care; with her broken leg she isn't even capable of sneaking out and disobeying you. Edward Cullen might be her boyfriend, but you are still her father, and she lives under your roof. You have every justification to demand an end to the relationship.

But Bella would never have forgiven you. She glows with happiness whenever the boy enters the room, and even though you have a sinking feeling about the whole thing, you can't bring yourself to take that light away from her. So you open the front door and let him step inside.

It is the biggest mistake you will ever make.

Ack. This makes me wish Twilight was a littlelittle bit more like the Vampire Diaries, just the part where a vamp can only enter a house when he/she is invited (Lolz at Logan who lived on his own and couldn't enter his own house after he transformed :') ).

That would be so awesome. *sigh* Though Bella would've done the inviting at this point. Would've stopped all the sleep-watching, though.

I think it would've made her think... If the laws of nature made vampires wait until an invitation, wouldn't that be an obvious sign that vampires weren't supposed to go near humans? Even Bella couldn't have missed that one...

That is genius.

Yeah :( Can't imagine how many times he must've dwelled on this single moment during the missing months post-Edward...

I want to slap Bella across the face like she deserves. I want to hit Charlie upside the head. That was the one thing that irritated me about canon!Charlie. Be a frickin' father. The way he let Bella walk all over him with her "He's here whether you like it or not" bullshit she pulled after what she did to him in New Moon was unforgivable. ESPECIALLY after the hell Bella put Charlie through during her zombie phase. (LEARN TO BE YOUR OWN PERSON, YOU CODEPENDENT, CAN'T-THINK-FOR-YOURSELF, LOVES-TO-BE-EMOTIONALLY-ABUSED-AND-CONTROLLED MORON!!!!!) My father would have kicked my ass if I pulled something like that...way worse than a grounding.

Sure, Edward would have come in through the window. Sure, Bella would have protested and been upset. And Meyer could have made another unreasonable comparison to Romeo and Juliet. Then she could have moved out when she turned 18. But at least the precedent would have been set that Edward Cullen is not tolerated in the Swans' lives.

But no...Bella gets everything she wants...God, I hate Bella Swan.

The scene post-Italy between Bella and Charlie was quite possibly the lowest moment of Bella in the entire series. Seriously. She was such a disrespectful little brat (and I'm no stickler on that sort of thing, believe me). The creepy thing is, I think Meyer thought Bella was exhibiting character strength by Standing Up For Herself And For Edward.

*headdesk*

"ghostly little bastard" Lol! Love it. I think Charlie sees more than Meyer gives him credit for. He HAS to. My dad would never have failed to notice if a boy was in my room all night. Not even a super-human, non-sleeping, mind-reading boy.

Charlie's basically only a plot device in the books; sometimes he's firm, sometimes he's a wimp, sometimes he's an idiot, sometimes he's insightful. To make it all work, one must assume that he *does* see stuff (he's a fucking cop, after all), but that he doesn't know what to do about it. Not with his daughter, anyway.
