Sick Kitty?

My cat Spice may be ill. Last night he stopped using the litterbox t'pee in and started going in the back of the closet, n ot far from the litterbox. Which.. is really, really odd because Spice has never ever done that (even when pissed off at me, he's usually just gone and pooped in the hall or summat XP). Except once. Years ago. When he had that ( Read more... )

*huggles* Poor kitty. My boy had that a year or so ago. He had to be in the animal hospital for over a week to get unblocked. Cats can live to be up to twenty, so as long as there aren't other health problems, you shouldn't have to put him down. A lot of vets will work with you on payment options and there are lines of credit you can get for pet care if that becomes an issue.

Is he on any sort of perscription medication for the blockages? There are a lot of non-perscription verions of cat food too. Don't know if this is helpful or not. murr. Best wishes...

Yeah, Spice had it when he was younger. Although he wasn't fully blocked. And no, he's not on any prescription. He has been on Cat Chow: Special Care for Urinary Tract Health (which the vets recommended to us years ago when he had his first semi-blockage) and he has been on it ever since (we've been afraid to change his diet for fear he'd get another one).

But yeah. Hopefully things from the tests will come back OK and he'll just need an antibiotic or something. *hug*

Oys.. some vets I swear.. they are the reason us Vet TEch's get yelled at. -.-

Anyway.. try to talk to your normal vet. From the sounds of it he -IS- blocked. And when a male cat is blocked it won't be in the bladder unless it is bladder stones. It'll be well.. its a male cat and only male cats get blocked up there. n.n

You caught it in plenty of time so just relax some. About the teeth, Vets are just freaking out with teeth lately anymore. He should had worried about the reason you brought Spice in instead of his teeth.

Hang in there hone I'm sure he'll be ok. n.n

Some vets act like that.. I dono why. O.o SO Ihope your normal vet can fill you in on what's going on. And if there at the same office I would tell your normal vet what a ass hat this other guy was being so someone knows what is going on at least.

I know how it is to worry about older pets.. All of my birds are old save for 2 so I tend to freak out about them. Since we have the AC on I make sure all there cages are covered and all from the vent/drafts so they don't get to cold. n.n
