First and foremost, do not be afraid to put a game CD into a DVD-ROM drive. It will play the game as any old CD-ROM drive will. Even DVD±RW or CD-RW drives will do the same thing too. You may need to reinstall the game, but that's only a minor inconvenience; you probably won't have to though
