Audrik glanced out the window at the small pub near his flat. Taking a small sip from his glass of whiskey, he made a face and watched the snow falling gently on the road. He managed, with a lot of help from the alcohol, to slip into a relatively good mood, by his standards. Most of the people he knew were still visiting family, but he craved ( Read more... )

The holidays were over. She couldn't believe that after all the preparation and all the time spent, that the holiday was just over. All that stress for a measly twenty-four hours. But at least she was on holiday. And she was quite happy not to have any work to do until January. At that moment, she was standing at the edge of the bar, debating what on Earth she was going to do with the rest of her night.

She'd met an old friend from Hogwarts for a drink but that had ended all rather quickly. Parvati had gotten in to a fight with her boyfriend and well, that was that.

She had thought to just leave when a man at the bar caught her attention. She could have sworn she'd seen him before.

He raised his glass toward her with a smile.

She found herself smiling back. It was quite rare to find Marlow in a pub, especially alone. You would say that while she was social, she was only really open with her close friends. What made her think she could just go up to some random bloke and start a conversation was beyond her. In fact, it was highly unlike her.

But it could have had to do with what happened in Japan. The flames would never leave her memory- or the screams. You only live one life, she thought suddenly. And so she walked toward him.

"You look familiar," she said upon taking the seat next to him.

Audrik smiled and sipped his drink.

"Well, I'm a grad student at Painswick. Maybe that's where you've seen me?"

He sat back in his chair. It wasn't often he actually tried to flirt with someone, except for that blonde the week before. What was her name... Cecilia?
