I'm not sure INTO THE WILD made such a splash in the States despite the critical approval. It seemed be caught in the shadow of THERE WILL BE BLOOD and NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
(in the way the excellent QUIZ SHOW suffered in the shadow of PULP FICTION).
The whole cast was great. It's marvelous to see Keener in a sympathetic role after gaining some fame with C. Kaufman as a perrenial shrew. I also think William Hurt has some of the most powerfully emotional film moments in recent memory.
