Say it isn't so!

If you are too young to know Opus the Penguin...hush up. I'm old. :P

Hell... I'm old enough to remember Bloom County. Oh yeah, and Doonesbury. Those were my favorite cartoons.

I think I might even still have an Opus for Pres shirt floating around. And I know I still have the Bill the Cat notebook sitting in the stack. I wrote some truly hideous poetry in that notebook. ACK!

I used to have many stuffed Opuses...Opus'...Opii?

I would love to find a Bill the Cat notebook!

I adore Bloom County and always had a soft spot for Opus T. Penguin.

I loved the point of the article and all, but still...*sniff*

I think the retirement is noble and I urge others (named in the article) to follow.

Oh I agree with you, but I will still wear a black armband for the penguin. :B

Bloom County was far better than Opus, but ACK! I'll miss him!

Bloom County was amazing. Steve Dallas, Bill the Cat, Michael Binkley and the rest are still hiding in my bookshelves somewhere, but I will admit *blush* that the big-beaked penguin was my favorite. :)

Nooooooo! I still have a bunch of Bloom County books. Hell, I still have BC strips stuck to my fridge. I'll forever remember Opus' weakness for Home Shopping Network, ordering 3000 potato twadlers, then having master charge telling him "If you don't pay us we'll have to come out and shoot you".

Then there was the "New Coke/Classic Coke" debacle. And that basset hound. <3
