The Dublin Carol DTs...also known as William Petersen Withdrawal

Jan 10, 2007 16:53

I returned home from my final pilgrimage to Providence on Monday, and I find myself somewhat melancholy.  Seeing Billy Petersen onstage was an amazing experience, and I'm afraid it spoiled me a bit.  Okay...it spoiled me a lot.  The Dowling Theatre was such an intimate setting, and I had excellent seats each time, so sitting 10 feet from Billy ( Read more... )

Guess I was trying to commit everything from the glow of the electric fire to the frayed ends of that scaldy sweater to my memory. Hypothetically...if I had been given the chance to choose one prop as a souvenir, I would have chosen either John's flat cap (as if Billy would part with that) or the advent calendar...or perhaps one of the empty Powers Irish Whiskey bottles.
I understand what you're saying... It's somewhat empty and quiet now, isn't it? I feel like I've been transposed from one reality to another, because for all its uniqueness and grandeur, it seemed oddly normal to be there. I will miss it terribly, can't even begin to imagine what Billy's adjustments must feel like...

For me it would have to be the little umber glazed mug. It seemed to be Plunkett's one security 'blanket' - empty or not.

Had a wonderful time with friends and impressions, hope to feel that contentment again some day!

Oh...the mug would make a brilliant souvenir! And you put my melancholy into words beautifully. The emptiness and quiet here are disconcerting. Providence was such a magical experience. It was my "high" and I am definitely coming down now. I don't like it much.

Your descrition of the final bow is so sad, especially since he probably isn't thrilled about returning to CSI.

Glad you had a great time. Sounds like the play just got better and better ;)

The performances were definitely more fine-tuned than the last time I saw it. I noticed this most with Danny Mefford's and Rachel Warren's characterizations. Billy was marvelous every time though I don't think I can be very objective as far as he is concerned... ;)
Billy's actions after the final bow were not exactly overt. It was very subtle, and I was glad I caught it. It was...poignant, and yes, a little sad.

First off - I LOVE your icon! ROFL!
And glad to hear Billy had worthy costars. Just sounds so awesome, as I bet he can be a domineering presence on stage.

Awwwww, re. the final bow.

As a souvenir I think I'd have to take that orange cardigan, just so I could burn it ;-)

Will be interesting to see Amber's interview :-)
