The notice from Professor Carrow was practically out of the blue for Millicent. She wasn't normally one to catch a professor's attention, at least not for any good reason. But she found herself hoping that it wasn't something academic that Alecto wanted from her. Millicent was practically itching for something to do besides schoolwork.
She could not make either Claws or Spots go back to the dorms without her, but she did make them stay put out of sight near the door before she even considered knocking. They were getting more rebellious lately - she suspected it was Spots' influence, the kitten was getting more and more frisky as she grew - and she was going to have to do something about it eventually. Perhaps as soon as the talk was over.
Millicent shot a glare at the kitten, who immediately sat back on her haunches. Satisfied for the moment, she raised one hand and knocked to announce her presence.
"Come in," Alecto called from her desk. When Millicent entered, the professor's face widened into a grin. "I'm glad you could make it Miss Bulstrode. Please take a seat
( ... )
Millicent sat, glancing around the room. She noted the body parts in jars, but found them more disgusting than frightening; the whole thing had much less of a scary effect than the Heir's big cavern under the bathroom. Why should she be frightened of a classroom?
"Yeah," she answered Alecto's question, guessing that it didn't have anything to do with her schoolwork - just judging by the grin on the Professor's face. Millicent knew she hadn't done that well.
"Well, in the last few weeks I've noticed that my courses have gotten a lot more demanding. The assignments are becoming more intense and the students - let's just saying they are becoming very unruly. And since Professor Podmore has nothing but good things to say about his student assistants, I've decided to find one for myself."
Alecto paused and folded her hands in front of her. "The trick is find the right sort of student to help me out. Not just anyone will do, you see. The Dark Arts are a serious subject and I am looking for someone who will be able to handle it."
