Megan, too, was pleased with her progress over the last few weeks. She and Michael met a couple of times each week to practice a variety of defensive spells and then often she would sneak out during the night and work further on her own. Megan smiled at his compliment - between the four walls of the Room of Requirement was one of the few places she felt safe showing any emotion at all. When surrounded by others, she found herself becoming more and more a blank slate. This reminded her that she had a letter to send later that day. While Michael had been irreplaceable as a mentor in her spell work, Megan had another tutor in mind for internal methods of defense ( ... )

Michael chuckled and shrugged, "Yes you could." He assured her, giving her one just squeeze before he took the first steps away from her to pick up a couple of towels. He tossed one to Megan, and hid his face in his own. "So, Eleanor Branstone escaped. Got the Snitch back from Dean last night really late." Michael pulled from his pocket the golden snitch and twisted. It came into two halves, the inside inscribed with the word, 'safe.' "They're likely... well... Merlin knows at this point." He sighed, "Unfortunately Owen got cold feet. I heard that from Dobby, but no one has seen him today. Guess that means they have him put away ( ... )

"Aren't we all?" Megan replied. She grabbed a towel and used it the wipe the beads of sweat that had formed at her temples during the grueling practice. "Sorry I didn't make it to help last night. After everything that happened during DADA class yesterday, I just needed a break."

Megan crossed the room and sat down on a chair, pulling a knapsack into her lap. She removed a jar of cream she had left over from her run in with Millicent and smeared a dollop of the contents on her right hand. "Thank goodness for modern magic," she commented, as she rubbed it until it was absorbed. Even though the skin would probably heal better if she wasn't constantly reopening it during their practice sessions, Megan refused to give up on her goal.

"So we have no idea where Owen is right now?" She questioned.

Michael plopped down next to Megan, resting his elbows on his knees. "Yeah..." He agreed neutrally to Megan's response. Inwardly he felt a little... annoyed... that Megan's seemingly only excuse was that she was tired. He'd taken a stinging hex and an interrogation that day, and he made it. No, you're being unfair. She's doing what she can. Now stop. Michael thought as he looked at Megan and nodded. "Anthony and I got them off fine. No issues. Well..." Michael shrugged, "Except that one. With Owen." Michael touched his forehead and rubbed it with two fingers. He squinted as if he had a headache and sighed.

"Huh?" He looked to Megan, and had to decipher what she said by the tail end of her sentence. "Oh umm.... probably in the Dungeon. I have temporary familiar-seeker charms on some of the mice down there. They seem to be holding 'detentions' in those rooms." Michael shrugged and sighed hard, "It doesn't make sense. I've been going over this in my head all night and day. Owen can't have apparated back. He had ( ... )
