Over the Hill

The polls have closed as an icy rain falls in Ohio. According to the news, the Democratic primary race in Ohio is too close to call, although it appears that Obama has won Vermont by a wide margin. I voted this morning for Hillary--my first ever vote in a primary--because hers is my stand on the issues and she has the wisdom of experience to lead ( Read more... )

Huh, Chances are I vote Democrat in this particular election, but I am agreeing with your vote so far.

Normally I'm independent(big surprise huh?) but yea, I totally appreciate anyone who's under 40 and making that concerted effort to elect their chosen official.

Good work (not that I'd ever say bad things about you) but way to allow your opinion known. I also like that you took an opposing opinion to the poll by driving your SO. I must admit that's what I'd do too.

I just love elections, it brings out the political animal in me. I don't know why a lot of other young people don't get similarly fired up. More people vote for American Idol than for the President.

It did pain me to drive my man to the polling station, knowing that it cancelled out my effort, but I would have driven more Obama supporters if they needed a ride. We liberals need to stick together. And he drove my car to McD's to buy me a tasty breakfast burrito and coffee while I voted, so I can't complain... :D

I feel like I'm the only sober person in a party full of drunks.LOL. You're spoiling my theory that only people under 25 see the world so black and white that they condemn others simply for choosing differently from themselves. ;) (But I'm assuming this is you being strongly worded for the sake of rhetoric ( ... )

Yeah I was exaggerating...but hey I'm not seeing things in black and white just because I'm over 25...I'm not that old yet ( ... )

You're almost two weeks older than I, Oldy McOldypants! ;) But no, my theory is that it's the 20-25 set who see only black/white right/wrong (and defend to the death what they see as Right while being utterly baffled that anyone could EVER fail to see things the same way as they); I think somewhere after 25 is where most people start to gain a little perspective and a little pragmatism, realizing that as right as you may be, it's really OK for someone just as smart as you to draw a different conclusion from the same facts. :D

Sorry for projecting my insecurities, I've just had to defend myself recently against someone who believed strongly that anyone who finds their emotional heartstrings pulled by a political speech must not understand what that candidate is saying. >:(

This is going to be a great election year no matter what, with people getting so involved so early and staying in touch with the process for so long already. :) I certainly didn't pay this much attention to the 2004 primaries!

Great post. How many times have you heard that from me regarding a political stance? ;) Sure, a month late, but if I'm just now reading it, then it's news to me!
