Today concludes my first week in second year. I managed to read the bulk of Plato's Republic and Descartes' First Meditations. Despite initial wariness, I'm now a converted fan of Greek philosophy, but the latter's pointlessness is astounding.

not to be a random commentator here but jien and i studied those 2 philo texts last year and found ourselves making all sorts of roundabout arguments against what was essential our own theses! i found it all very inconclusive in the time-wasting nonproductive sense. anyway good luck with school :)

Yeah, Meditations is killing me, although there's a certain satisfaction in studying something so useless. I do genuinely like The Republic though, I think he raises a lot of interesting points I'd regard as far ahead of his time, but that's just my blind love for moral philosophy.

well i was gonna say that karina and i did that last year but guess she beat me to it. it nearly killed the both of us though, we had to write essays on what we made of it and we were stuck for the longest time because we honestly thought it was just bullshit! i bet you're making much more headway than the both of us combined!

I wanted to crash Moral Philosophy in my school this semester but the classroom was too small and I'd be noticed. As the weeks went by, I got lazy. I thought it might do me some good to know more about morals and correct my lack thereof. Apparently not.
