50 Days of Park Chanyeol (Foreword)
“So then you divide by five on both sides of the equation to get the answer.” Baekhyun smiled, although puzzled, and thanked Jongin for explaining number 5 on his Calculus homework. He was pretty sure he needed to divide by 7, but Jongin was number one in his graduating class, and Baekhyun was lucky to have his help. Shrugging, Baekhyun calculated his answer and closed his math book. He, Jongin, Kyungsoo, and Jongdae were all sitting in Jongin’s bedroom doing their routine after school homework session. Why Jongin chose to spend his time with them and not the other high ranks of his class, he did not know. Closing his book also, Jongin let out a huff of breath. “Can you guys believe that graduation is only in five months?” Smiling in sync, the four other boys shook their heads. “All your hard work has paid off, Jongin! You’ll graduate with the highest honors.” Kyungsoo exclaimed. Jongin only shot a glare at the younger boy. “No, I won’t.” The others glanced at each other in question. “What do you mean?” Jongdae questioned. “I would be first in the class; however, that freak Park Chanyeol passed me last month for number one.” Jongin spat, almost as if the other’s name was poisonous to the tongue. “Such a all, stupid freak. How can he even be number one? All he talks about is aliens and childish shit.” Jongin continued his rage. The others snickered carefully, hoping not to upset Jongin. “Well, he’s in my honors biology class, and he’s never missed one point on any test.” Baekhyun spoke up, only to be answered with two careful glances and a death glare from Jongin. “It doesn’t matter. He’s a childish idiot.” Jongin spat once again. “No wonder he only has one friend, that Sehun kid or whatever.” Jongdae and Kyungsoo snickered, but Baekhyun only smiled. Jongin noticed this. “What? Don’t think he’s so bad, Baekhyun? I bet you couldn’t last fifty days with the freak.” Jongin challenged. Baekhyun smirked. “Fifty days? That’s all?” He questioned, gaining a fit of laughter from Jongin. “Are you serious? Dude I’ll give you so much money if you can actually do it.” Baekhyun kept his challenging smirk. “You better start saving, then.”
