They had to sell some other parts of their collection too as they lost most of their land after WW2. But Hans Adam II could prevent a bigger loss fortunately. They meanwhile are able again to enlarge their collection. Concerning the content of their collection you know of course much more than I do. But you should see the highlights here, in the palace.
I haven't studied the catalogue yet. And besides the information I got from the audio guide I know nothing about the Liechtenstein collection. What I'd rather like to know concerning the Rembrandt is why is the bow-string not fixed? They explained the soap-bubble but not the bow.

I think the Rembrandt is a recent acquisition. I am pretty certain that it was bought from the Rothschilds.
