Swimming Lessons

Every summer I have my kids take swimming lessons. Luckily they all like it, but even if they didn't I don't think it would be an option. Being able to swim is the only way to be safe around water, even if you don't like to swim. There's just too much danger around water if you don't know how to swim. Swimming with a 20-month-old is about as much fun as it sounds. They can't swim, obviously, and they're never safe to be left anywhere at all ever, so basically I spent my whole time clutching onto Bram as he thinks he is not a beginning swimmer. He thinks he's Michael Phelps. He full on wants to lap swim and be serious. Not that he can do any of those things, but it's not like he's happy to just splishy splashy around. Swimming time is serious time.

I read this while sitting at Suzannah’s swimming lesson yesterday and laughed out loud.
