Oh boy! I'm so excited! Beets and lettuces and radishes and carrots! And squashes, and cucumbers, and pumpkins! YAY! Oh, onions! Corn! I'll be right over to help. Will we put in fruit trees?

This is terrific.

This is my first garden, so I'm trying to be a little conservative about how big I make it. (I feel like might screw things up like I did with the onions.)

That said, here's what I'm going to plant this afternoon:
Sugar crunch cucumbers, (they're small and pickle shaped.)
Wax beans, and green beans
French Breakfast radishes, (an heirloom variety!)
Loose leaf lettuce blend
Sweet bell peppers.

It's still a little too early to plant tomatoes, (The only live plant I'm going to buy.)

Are we poling or fencing the beans and peppers? and are they mixed in with the cucumbers? (that's good for the soil, if I recall)

and want to campaign for beets, cuz they're so easy peezy...

Fencing, and yes, the cucumbers, beans, and peppers will be mixed.

I'd do beets, but I only have so much room.

I'm starting gardening too for the first time since I was 10 or so. We are trying straw bale gardening, plus some containers with strawberries, herbs, and lettuces. Just went to a plant sale at a local horticulture community college: tomato plants for 50 cents each!

Straw bale gardening? I'm going to have to look into that.
