I love Treme - haven seen season 2. it's painful - I dint realize they used real people's stories so blatantly - that seems insensitive.

the suicide of John Goodman's character last season broke my heart in such a good way, I loved the chaotic, imperfect messy way the show unfurls. I'm sorry this is hurting really people, instead of celebrating them.

Hey Ven!

I've thought on this a bit. I guess the show must be really good if it's affecting people emotionally this way. I think maybe it's just "too soon" for a show of this nature.

You'll love season 2- it's really intense and gritty. Most of the plots are based on real people and events, they've even included a jazz funeral for a real musician that passed away during the time frame this show is taking place in.

John Goodman broke my heart too- did you know his character is based on a real professor down there? And the chef lady...Jeanette I think her name is? She's based on a woman named Lisa Spicer, I believe.

Even sadder, still... they could have used this as an opportunity (WITH the husband's permission) to tastefully/delicately include the events in a way to perhaps get word out to the public to help solve it. Painful, yes, but IF done with permission and input from family, could actually have served a higher purpose. (I know nothing of the murder, so I don't know if it was solved; if so, then simply something done in remembrance).

You don't have to make a point - just get what you need to get said, said. It helps. And sometimes it's just to relay on to others what isn't tolerable, perhaps that that expression eventually gets into 'right' hands of others in a position to prevent the same thing from happening.

*hugs*

i agree with this. it's also sad that media is resorting to more & more sensationalism to get numbers/readers/attention. it's sad. & the overwhelming about of media we have now tossed in our lives & faces makes it hard to keep perspective straight & reality in line.

very sorry to be reading the twisting, but glad to know the truth (or at least a portion of it)
*hugs* to both of you.
